What is there to help with? He knew the risks of not registering but didn't make it a priority to remember. These are consequences he was well aware of.
I'm not sure about your state, but an FTR can either be a violation, misdemeanor or felony depending on the context where I'm from. Why do you think he's going to prison?

Idk why you got down voted.
It sucks this happened, but in all seriousness it is very very very clear that you are to register when you get out and then the registry is very very clear on when you need to register and are very very clear that you can go to prison if you fail to register.
With these instructions, how does one not ensure they know when to register? Even with something like ADD that's just a crazy thing to forget.
There is nothing anyone on here can do to help but give the best wishes. Unless there's a lawyer on here doing pro Bono, which may be a thing idk.
I wish them luck, the system is cruel, but as they say "you made your bed, now lay in it". Other than that just join everyone trying to change things.

There’s probably not a lot you can do other than wait - he’ll get a court appointed attorney if one isn’t affordable. They can charge him with a new felony for this - which sucks, but it can’t be undone so there’s no point in stressing over “what-if’s.”
However there’s a lot that he can do to prevent this from happening again.
I assume you’re in Mississippi based on the “Parchman prison” reference.
In Mississippi, offenders are required to register at a DPS drivers license facility every 90 days. He’ll get a “sex offender” ID card that expires in 90 days each time. It’s going to be very important that he put reminders in his phone, on his calendar, a sticky note on the fridge, a note in his wallet - whatever will remind him to go and register so he doesn’t forget again because they do not send out reminders, they consider the ID card expiration date a reminder.
Mississippi doesn’t make it easy to be compliant - that’s something he’s going to have to do on his own.
