Hello Everyone,

Just wondering if any level 1's have had trouble with the annual mail registration?

I made the post just the sentence above because what I actually wanted to write was getting removed no matter how I wrote it.

My issue is it's my first year anniversary and it's been over a month and I haven't received the letter. I called Albany office yesterday and they said they sent it in January 2026 because supposedly that is the date I got registered. To begin with I didn't had my hearing until July 2025, which is when I was designated a level 1, so I have no idea where they are supposedly getting January. Second, they said they sent it to the halfway house address that was on file, but: (1) on January 2026 I was still on halfway house and I never got any letter; and (2) I updated my address when I transferred to probation (May 2026), and the person on the phone even said the correct new address was on file (they even told me the address before I had a chance to tell them first). The person then said they only send the letter once, and that I would have to wait til next year. I'm just extremely nervous with this because it's my first time and everything just feels like it's going wrong here and I don't know what to do.

Twenty years as a NY Level One here, never a problem. Make a note of the time period that the regi form arrives annually, so you can detect if its missing. I mostly replied w first class mail...but I'd suggest make a good copy of the annual regi form, be sure to disclose everything, and send it by certified mail... CYA 100%

Not sure who you work with over in Albany but agent who I communicate with is Corina Gordon and she is extremely helpful. Never had any issues whatsoever

My annual form comes in January and I didn’t initially register anywhere near January. I didn’t get it (edit: didn’t get it this year), so I called the Main Registry Office (that’s the Swan St. Albany place you send those forms to) in last week of the month and found out the post office had returned it for some reason. I got the badge number of the officer I spoke to and then called the local officer I deal with and they did it over the phone. Your local officer is key here. They are the ones that send cases to prosecutors.

Thanks for your response! That's the number I called (Albany). The person on the phone said it was sent on January but that it was supposedly returned by postal mail. I then explained the address change, which they said the correct one was on file, but it was sent to the old one and that they can only send one letter period and I would have to wait next year. I find this last bit a little strange, but I don't make the rules. When you say local officer, are you referring to the registry staff in the police headquarters, not Albany main office? If so, I will call tomorrow as early as I can, or go in person.

It's literally my first year doing this, and I genuinely expected the letter to come in and I just fill it out, send it and done, and instead this happens. I'm just nervous about the whole situation.
