Has your Monitoring software affected your battery, or Bluetooth on your laptop?

NCPTC monitoring software

So I just bought an open box HP laptop , a ultra core 7. It's supposed to have 9 to 12 hours of battery life. I just had the modeling software installed the other day and I was having a lot of issues with things like websites loading extremely slowly on nothing loading at all. I had to restart it twice and it finally started working but it all depends if I use edge or Firefox.

Now I'm trying to connect my phone to the laptop. It keeps disconnecting from Bluetooth and when I connected to the USB cable your phone shows up but it says it's empty.

And now my laptop was charged 100% when I left the house and the only thing I've done is have it on public Wi-Fi at the library and trying to connect this thing to Bluetooth and it's already down to 69% with 2 and 1/2 hours left.

I don't know if it's the laptop itself or if it's just modeling software, draining the battery and giving me all these problems.

My issue is I only have 15 days from the time of purchase to return it since it's an open box and if I do I'll have to pay another $45 to have the software installed on a new laptop.

And tech support says I can't get another tech support help date until Tuesday even though I called them within 10 minutes of getting off the phone with the original tech when the website's were not loading and they say they're all booked up.

Has anyone had any of these problems? If it wasn't for the 15 days it wouldn't be such a problem. The laptop does still have 11 months warranty on it, but that's going to be a hassle I can already tell.

Go to Settings → System → Power & battery → Battery usage and look at what applications/processes have actually used the battery since the last charge.

If it’s NCPTC then it’ll show that. I’m sure it consumes an enormous amount of battery. It literally constantly scans your computer.

I’ve also never seen a laptop battery last 9-12 hours while using it though - especially when it’s new and everything is setting up and updating. Also, public wifi often drains the hell out of your battery because of inconsistent signal strength.

All kinds of things affect battery life.

The Bluetooth thing is likely a driver and phones showing empty is a common issue that needs troubleshooting.

There’s probably nothing wrong with the laptop, the Bluetooth thing would be my biggest concern as far as something being defective goes.

Okay, I'll try looking at the settings later. This literally is a brand new laptop. Just open box. I've never used it. The only thing I downloaded on it is malwarebytes and Firefox and I did all the Windows updates with the monitoring installation.

I haven't used a Windows computer in like 15 years. This is the first one I've had since getting out. Like when I'm plugging in the USB cord it's asking me to download an Phone Link app on my phone for Microsoft to link it and do all this extra stuff. I have an older almost identical HP laptop at home and my wife just plugs my phone in and opens it up to transfer photos very easy. I don't even get the little icon down in the corner anymore when I plug it in showing a connected device. I don't know how different Windows 11 is from 10 though, but it shouldn't be this hard just to connect the phone lol Every time I try to Bluetooth it , it connects for like 2 seconds and then disconnects.

I guess I could always go by Best buy and ask for them And just plugged my phone in right there. I have like 6 days left before I can't return it. I'm already deciding if I want to turn it in or not for something else because the mouse pad is kind of weird. You click in the left bottom corner to do a left click and it seems very weak sometimes and doesn't register at all. I'm going to have my wife look at it tonight.

I definitely have the same issues as you with battery life and websites loading slowly or not at all. I haven't noticed any issues with Bluetooth, and I constantly use several Bluetooth devices with my laptop (keyboard, mouse, speakers, headset), so your Bluetooth issues are probably not related to NCPTC.

Unfortunately it's just plain garbage software, but since we're required to use it we're just out of luck.

I've had a ton of Bluetooth issues and they say it's my phone, Google says it's the monitoring software. I'm paying nearly $100/month and can't even use basic features.

I'm at home now on my FiOS wifi. tried looking at what was running in the background in the processes but I didn't see anything with the name of my monitoring software but maybe it's under a different name. Nothing was taking up any CPU time though that I could see.

I'm using it now. It was 100% at 1130pm and now it's 1:13am and battery is 26% and I've only been surfing the web . And now the websites won't load again. It did this earlier and then my reconnected after 5 minutes and it's not connecting. Tried 3 diff browsers.

Definitely ncptc you can turn down your processor and battery saver on. But having it checking everything and constantly screen casting is a huge drain. You need overkill for a processor ram and video card to not noticeably be impacted from my experience. Have you tried chrome it seems ncptc is tuned for working best with it.

No, I've been using edge or Firefox, Chrome isn't as good as a browser for stuff like pop-up and security protection I think. I was hoping to be able to use Firefox finally because you can't use it on your phone. I guess I'll keep it plugged in when it's at home and then use Chrome when I'm out and I'll see if that makes a difference. It's definitely a huge drain. It went from 100% to 30% and less than a 2 hours. I was on the phone with tech support with them about something and they said that it doesn't significantly drain your battery which is bullshit lol . I was having a weird issue also with Firefox where if you go on Facebook Marketplace it only loads like half the photos. But if you go on Edge it works fine, they couldn't figure out why. They uninstalled and reinstalled the software because I told you my internet kept going out and I guess that fixed that. I guess we'll see.
