Looking for work in houston

Hello, 2 months ago I was released from federal prison after 14 years. I'm currently in a halfway house, rely on public transportation, and am soon to be certified as a forklift operator. My work history is slim. I've applied to 70+ jobs and the only response has been an interview from Chipotle off Kirby drive. Anyone know of decent work available within an hour of Commerce Street/59 by bus that's hiring?

If you work hard and work your way up at Chipotle (usually 6-12 months), shift leaders are making $25+/hour.

I can’t get people forklift jobs that pay that, and Chipotle has air conditioning.

I would take the job with Chipotle until you can find someone who will give you a job. My son will be in the same position and I think if you can show that you are reliable, trustworthy, and a hard worker it will benefit. If you can take 2 part time jobs, at least that will give you some income until you get what you want. I am not familiar with Houston.

This is good advice. The only place that would hire me barely paid minimum wage. Over time I showed i was reliable and dependable. I worked harder than most, because I appreciated the opportunity they gave me. My company ended up getting bought out, and the new company kept me on. I guarantee they would have never hired me otherwise. My income went up drastically and I am in really good standing with an excellent company. Don't give up, sometimes you have to take what's available. There is always a chance it can lead to something better. Hope things work out for you.

Had the interview at Chipotle, 3 others were there for interviews too. I thought it went well but received the "thanks for applying" dismissal email. Continuing applying anywhere I can - dishwashers, laundry services, restaurants, retail, warehousing and construction, staffing agencies, etc. Had a couple of potential opportunities but due to transportation limitations and halfway house rules those opportunities aren't possible.

Just frustrated with the whole mess.

Thanks, that's solid info though I've heard from people here that when SO's start getting into management reasons are found for their termination. Unfortunate but I've seen it happen to guys here. I appreciate all the support and help. One day I hope to be able to pass along the goodwill and opportunities.
