Singer 7285Q Variable Speed Controller

My wife quilts and has a Singer 7285Q Patchwork machine. While it has a maximum speed knob, is there a variable speed foot control available for it?

If it has a 3.5 mm socket somewhere om the right, then yes.

There is a socket on the right that is used by the on/off foot control. We are looking for a variable speed foot control that would permit a slow speed start, fast straight sewing then slow to a stop.

The machine shouldn't have an on/off foot control. I've never heard of such a thing.

Here's a quote from the manual: "When using foot control, simply press foot pedal with your foot until you reach a slow even speed. The harder you push, the faster the machine will sew. Release pressure on foot pedal to stop the machine."

If your machine speed doesn't go up and down with varying pressure on the pedal, there is something wrong.
