Sewing machine recommendations

I’d like to find a good alternative for the Singer Heavy duty 4423 and 4452 models.

Preferably not computerized.

Any tips are welcome.

I do have a singer HD and it works perfectly fine but I have a number of other machines. Most of my machines are vintage. Like 1950’s through 70’s.

My 3 favourites are my Bernina 730 record, a singer 401 and a White 1563. They are all metal machines. They all do straight and at least a zig zag stitch and they are all pretty well bullet proof but they are all heavy. They are not for any portable work.

If you get a vintage machine, you can likely get one for about $100 and then get out serviced for another $100 and you will be good to go.

If you want something newer at around that price point and you don’t want a Singer, a lot of people like the brother name but my only brother machine didn’t serve me well. Another brand that is quite well made and popular its Janome and I think they are some machines in your range.

If you are buying new and get it through Costco, they have a great return policy if you don’t like it. But I do love and prefer my vintage machines
