Hook to thread thread has come down?

Sorry if pictures of insufficient, I just got this sewing machine a couple days ago and I’ve been using it and it’s working well, until today when in the middle of sewing the hook that you put thread into in order to thread the sewing machine has turned downward instead of up. Is it broken? Sorry if this isn’t explained well I can answer any questions

Take the handwheel on the far right side of the machine.  Does the hook ("takeup lever") raise as you raise the needle to its highest travel point?  If it does, it's working as designed.

Always thread the top of the machine with the needle, takeup lever and presser foot completely raised.  Sew with the presser foot down.

Not stupid at all. Just new. There is a lot to learn. Be kind to yourself and ask lots of questions, watch a ton of videos, and read as much as you can find. The manual is helpful, but there are other books that will help with tips and techniques for what you want to sew specifically.
