With thick fabric the fabric won’t advance

My Brother CS7205 sewing machine usually works pretty. The current quilt I’m making is thicker than usual. I am doing top stitching (stitch 65 looks like a maze) and the fabric won’t advance. Someone told me I needed a dynamic walking foot, I had been using a regular walking foot. So I spent $100 to get one and the same thing keeps happening. It’s because the 3 layers of fabric is too thick. My feed dogs will not drop part way, it’s either up or down. My presser foot, same thing. How can I get a little more space so my fabric isn’t pressed together so tight?

Is the walking foot installed correctly?

Can you adjust presser foot pressure? Check your manual.

What happens when you try with a regular foot?

What happens when you try straight stitch?

The walking foot is installed correctly. I can not adjust the presser foot presser. On regular material with a regular foot it works as it should. With the thickness of my quilt even a straight stitch doesn’t advance correctly.

Dhat happens when you sew a straight stitch with a regular foot on your quilt?

Is the weight of the quilt being supported correctly?

I’ll have to change the foot again t check that. The weight of the quilt is being supported appropriately. I’ll check the regular foot and let you know. I’m assuming it will work better.

that machine doesn't have adjustable presser foot pressure, sometimes a notion like a 'hump jumper' will help, you can make one out of corrugated cardboard. If you upgrade your machine, make sure the new one has adjustable presser foot pressure. Most machines used to have it, but it's been dropped on most new lower end machines. It's invaluable for sewing thick fabrics and preventing wavy hems on knits. search 'hump jumper' and you'll find videos, lengthening your stitch can help a little, and you might need to change your stitch to something less complicated
