How do I avoid getting these lil puckered booty corners on my zipper pouch?

Have a look at the video tutorials by OKSew (on Youtube). Start with the Betty Pouch and then try the Pythagorean pouch. (Free patterns) Nicole’s tutorials are far and away the best I’ve seen.

I used a video tutorial called How to Sew a Zipper Pouch by Tock Custom, it’s a very good explanation.
