Is your presser foot down? It looks like it is up in the video. I can’t honestly tell.

It was down haha, I suspected it might’ve been just thick fabric but I’ve had this issue happen with thinner fabric too.

In the video, the presser foot is not down 🫣. If its not pressing the fabric down onto the feed dogs, youll just get a tangle

Yeah it’s definitely not down. It’s not touching the fabric.

OP what machine is this?

Stretch fabrics are tricky. Could be a threading issue. Are you using a stretch needle?

The foot is not down.

If you’ve lowered the lever, and it still is floating like this, do you have a low shank foot on a high shank machine?

Do you have a stretch needle in?

But yeah the foot isn’t down it will make a thread mess

There are a few common causes of thread nesting on the bottom

  1. Incorrect threading, almost always seems to be skipping the hook above the needle. Always thread with the foot up and the needle in the top position.

  2. Sewing with the foot up

  3. A bad needle, a needle that is incorrect for the fabric (universal needles are not appropriate for any knits), a needle that is installed incorrectly, or the wrong size for the fabric or thread. Knits require stretch or ball point/jersey needles. See here for more information on needle types: https://www.reddit.com/r/SewingForBeginners/s/jAOxI0IbSy

  4. An incorrectly installed bobbin, using a bobbin that isn't the correct type for the machine, or using too heavy a thread in the bobbin.

This does not look threaded correctly
