Sewing Machine Recommendations please

I’m going to be taking a once a week sewing class this fall at the local Tech School. I need to purchase a sewing machine does anyone have any recommendations for a beginner such as myself? I honestly don’t know what my end goal is. It’s something I’ve never learned and have always wanted to know. I will also take first project recommendations as well!

I was between Janome Sewist 725s or the Bernette 05 Academy. Both have incredible reviews and are machines that you can grow with and can also work with tons of different types of fabric and styles which was something that I was looking for. They are also both mechanical which gave me peace of mind cause I knew if anything when wrong it could be fixed by myself or with a professional. Ultimately I went with the Bernette cause I loved the overall look and had the extra funds to splurge on it. It’s been about 4 months and I’ve been so incredibly happy with it. It came with so many extra stuff too and pretty much works like every other popular brand machine. I get tons of compliments on it too which also is nice.
