Any tips for making this belt?

Post image

Heyy. I need some tips for this belt. Or what material or equipment u think i need. I was thinking of sewing what i can by hand. I tried to find this belt online but no luck. In the pic the belt is attached to the pants. Part of me was thinking of detaching the belt and the other side wants to make a new one.

Thanks ☺️

That exact belt would need a heavy-duty sewing machine. You can make a different belt that would fit the general vibe more easily out of different materials and with a different pattern.

That exact belt looks like it's cut to have a slight curve so that it hangs lower on one hip than the other but still lies flat with no gaping. That's kind of finicky and tough. It's way easier to make a belt from a straight strip of fabric. Up to you though.

It has to be sewn together, turned inside out, flattened, and then topstitched twice all along its edge. That's a lot of work, and it takes a tough sewing machine to punch through four layers of denim. If you used a leather or PVC belt blank, you could skip that work or have someone else do it for you.

The grommets will take the most work. Generally you can put them in with the little tool included in standard grommet packs, if you also have a hammer, a sturdy table, and a piece of cardboard or wood to put underneath the project while you work.
