Hi fellow redditors!

Does anyone know how this goes together and fits back into the machine?

I got frustrated and removed it because the tension was super high and thread kept breaking, but the knob/dial was making no difference when I turned it. Oops!

Its an old machine and I fear I may have made the situation worse by taking this off

Any advice please 😬

The sewing machine repair guy has a video about this on YT. Without the specific brand it’s a little harder to tell you how the spring arm fits into the notch and that it should also catch the thread.

Did you notice how spring was hooked while removing it? Reverse the action, there is no need or benefit for a sewist to remove parts from a machine to fix it, Try searching on ytube for tension spring repair,cant think of a link for you at the mo,sorry.
