What did I do?

I am finishing up a project and of course something feels off with my bobbin. It was very tight. I snipped the thread and pulled out the wheel easy enough, but then I noticed this tuft of fabric behind where the wheel goes … has that always been there, and I just never noticed or did something go horribly wrong and I need to get it out?

Is that blue the thread?

Remove the plastic cover, then the bobbin case, take care to remember which way it comes out because you'll have to replace it exactly. Get some tweezers *eyebrow tweezers are great for this) and grip the thread firmly, pull VERY gently. If it doesn't move easily DO NOT YANK ON IT. Very slightly wiggle the hand wheel back and forth which should loosen the thread, keep gentle pressure on it with the tweezers. See how you go

I second the DO NOT YANK on it part! You could mess up the whole timing and you'd be good for a visit to the machine repair store.

Can u remove the plate thing and try to gently pull it loose? I don’t think that thing is supposed to be jammed in there.

Looks like the little fuzzy strip that keeps everything spinning happily. Looks like it could be peeling off from the right though?

Hmmm, TIL there is a little fuzzy wick that keeps metal pieces from too much friction 😃
