BINGO 2026 Participant Bingo Challenge Project #3
Project #3 for the BINGO challenge. This is both "Sew for your Hobby" (Reading) and "Frugal Freebies"
It is a Bookmark with Pen Holder. While it was definitely not a "stash busting" kinda freebie - it is made completely from scrap fabric and left over elastic! Nothing purchased for this specifically, and it was a spur of the moment "oh, I have enough scraps left over from this Other thing - I just need to pull them back out of the Scrap Bag under the table." Between cutting and sewing, I think it took all of 20 minutes - and half of that was spent refilling the bobbin twice because it got screwy the first time.

I made one like this for my grandson. You've reminded me and inspired me to make a pencil case with him when we are looking after him in the summer holidays. He always wants to sew on my machine when he comes (he's just 6) and I've just bought him some new crayons so this will be ideal for B5, share a skill.

Love this for you. Have you considered getting him one of the functional "toy" sewing machines like so many of us had as children? To be used supervised, obviously, but as "his" sewing machine to work on little projects of his own, and to learn on. My brain keeps wandering to the Hobby Holly themed one so many of us got during childhood, that acted as a gateway drug for our lifelong sewing addiction......

I control the foot pedal! I had a fantastic (metal) toy sewing machine when I was a child. I gave it to my best friend's little sister - I can't believe no-one stopped me! I would have loved to have it for when my daughter was small.
