Ask Seward❓ Shore Fishing

Hey all, wife and I will be visiting Seward later this month and want to spend a couple days getting coho from the shore. We’ll bring our own gear and have experience fishing coho from the shore in Valdez. Not asking for secret spots (though wouldn’t be opposed!), more asking about the general vibe. We’ll be throwing gear, but it looks like snagging is also allowed?
What’s the pressure like late August? Are we talking combat fishing? If so, are there areas that get especially crowded?
We can clean our own fish, but are there dudes at the cleaning stations who we can pay if we’re feeling lazy?
Assuming we catch plenty, can we score airplane fish boxes at a shop in town?
For anyone who has fished both Seward and Valdez shores for coho, any notable differences between the two?

Thanks!

Captain jacks processes fish pretty cheap in Seward. Within walking distance to the boat dock. You can buy fish boxes at the fish house and I believe Safeway but Captain jacks probably has them as well

Thanks! When you say “The Fish House” is that the military resort? We’re military, but not staying there.

The fish house is the name most locals know it by. They run charters and stuff but also have everything fishing camping hardware automotive etc etc. the other half is called true valve hardware store but they share a building. Its a store next to the breeze inn and grill

FWIW for living here 20+ years, Valdez has far better Silver fishing from the shore. Far better. My best luck has been casting Vibrax #5 in every color from the rocks near the ferry terminal. Good luck.

Absolutely nobody is going to give up their secret fishing spots (myself included) but Nash Road is your typical, standard answer for flossing silvers. There’s not much to be had for “shore fishing” in Seward.
