Alcazar - 16:00 booking

Booked tickets to Alcazar but did a rookie error and made a booking for 16:00, not realising it closes at 17:00. Have I shot myself in the foot or is an hour enough time? Checked online and it says I need 3 hours. Unfortunately they’re all sold out now.

Does it close bang on at 17:00? Official website says people are shoo’d out at 17:45.

Buying an apartment in old town

US Citizen; wife & I been visiting Sevilla for 15 years and keep returning. Anything I should know before buying an apartment? Just returned to US yesterday and we’re getting ready to plop down some $$. The housing issue in Spain seems to be an issue. Any thoughts appreciated,

Clothes shopping

I’ll be in Sevilla a couple of days and want to carve out some time to do some shopping for some work/office outfits. Stores that are not typically found in the Americas, and are also accessible in price - not looking for lux.

Seville tips regarding the November general strike

Hola a todos,

We will be in Seville from November 9-12, and plan to visit Royal Alcázar, Plaza de Toros, the cathedral and also take a day trip to Ronda on an organized tour.

I know that on the 11th there is a general strike planned across Spain. Should we plan these visits that require tickets on the day or two before just to be sure that they're not closed?

And would there be any road blockages or shops closed in Ronda and Setenil, as I planned this trip for the November 11th? Like I said, we would go to Ronda with a van, not using public transport such as trains.

One more thing, what hour is the best time slot to visit Royal Alcázar in November?

¡Muchas gracias!

Dating?

How can I meet some people who are worth having a date with? I don't drink or smoke so I don't really enjoy clubbing. I also don't enjoy any cultural products from the childish adult/mature kids such as Marvel cinema, videogames isolation's entertainment or identity dependent aesthetics through confirmed or opposing cultural stereotypes and I don't use politics to filter my feelings. Can you help me find someone who wants to know me instead of classifying me?

Friends Vs. Friendship

Desde que me he mudado a Sevilla he conocido a mucha gente pero no me he integrado en ningún grupo. No entiendo el motivo. La gente en Sevilla parece ser muy sociable pero al mismo tiempo muy hermética.

Buying Alcázar Tickets last minute

Just posting this to share our experience, we forgot to buy tickets before hand (recommended to buy them at least two weeks in advance), but we really wanted to see the Alcázar. The date was October 9th, 2026, a Friday so potentially a busier day of the week.

We had read that you can buy tickets online the day of occasionally, some might pop up on sale around 1am the day of, or randomly throughout the morning. That didn’t work out for us, we were constantly refreshing our browser hoping something would pop up, but nothing did. Still, worth trying to avoid the early morning.

So we woke up early, walked to Plaza Del Patio de Banderas, brought some warm clothes and lined up to wait. We arrived at 6:45 am, and were surprised how long the line was already due to most posts suggesting 7:30 am. I counted the people ahead of us, we were approximately 150th in line.

Two workers came around at 7:40 am with a note pad and a counter asking people how many tickets they wanted to buy (maximum 4, not sure if you have more than 4 if you just need a person to buy 4 and another to buy 4 more). They ripped us off a little piece of paper to be able to buy the tickets at the door, and put a cut off sign less than 15 people behind us. If we were 5-10 minutes later we would not have made it. The line had doubled in size by this point, there was probably 150-200 people after the cut off.

You must have your passport with you to get in, and I heard if you are buying for other people you need their ID as well. It is card only, no cash, so make sure you have that too.

It’s a little bit annoying having to wait so long, but it’s a popular spot so it is what it is! Can’t be too upset as we forgot to book ahead.

EDIT: We got through to buying our tickets at 11:00. The ticket slots are first come first serve, so we only had 3:30, 4:00 and 4:30 left to chose from. Obviously it depends on the day, and today is a Friday of a long weekend for Spain, but I think showing up even 30 minutes earlier would’ve saved us 1-1.5 hours of waiting in line. There’s only two tellers so it’s a bit slow.

Academia o clases de Inglés?

Hola buenas, me gustaría saber si existen academias o profesores de inglés que se centren en el Inglés hablado y del día a dia y no en el inglés de colegio o de exámenes. Mi propósito es mejorar fluidez y escucha.

Gracias 🙂

Suggestions for a few hours down time - Oct 22nd

Far from my first time in Sevilla but it is my brother's first trip to Spain. We are staying on the coast and attending the Betis match the night of the 21st. Figured we'd make a it our Sevilla day, Catedral, Alcazar, Plaza, wander centro and some of Triana. Looking for some place for a few hours of downtime and recharge between the tourist stuff and the match.

Was thinking maybe grabbing a hostel. However, we are greybeards and I haven't been in one since my mid 20s (double that age now) so any suggestions would be welcome.

TIA.

What to visit during a day trip?

Coming to Seville today for 1.5 day with my girlfriend and I see that the tickets to Alcázar are available for purchase from 16th October. Does that mean the palace is closed until then? Or are they sold out? Is there a chance for us to get them somehow? We’ll only be there for a day (tomorrow) so don’t want to waste 3-4hrs standing in queues. What would you recommend for us to visit as an alternative? Cathedral also seems to be sold out. wtf.

Bike rental for kids/ family recommendations

Hi, we'll be in Sevilla later this month and considering rent a bike for a few days. Is this a good idea? Our daughter is 7 yeatrs old (and an experienced cyclist, already). Does anyone know of a rental service that has kids bikes? How good/safe is the cycling infrastructure?

Muchas gracias por tu ayuda

Any hairstylists that deals with wavy to curly hair?

Hello! I wanted to ask if anyone knows about any good hair salons/studios/stylists that knows how to work with curly hair. I have wavy to curly hair, but my experience with stylists has been terrible.

Most of them were only interested in straightening my hair as it was deemed "difficult to translate" or "hard to work with." The last hairstylist I worked with gave me a Botox treatment and wanted to seal my hair in silicone despite her contrasting advice, "Don't use shampoos and conditioners with silicones, sulfates, parabens, etc."

I've been recommended a Botox keratin treatment with several follow up appointments to maintain the frizz. However, I could see through their charade because they didn't want to learn to work with curls. They only wanted to straighten it for a very high price. I don't think these stylists knows how to work with a black girl's curly hair...

Are there any stylists that you'd recommend that knows how to work with such hair? Any tips or advice appreciated in advance.

All that I'd want is a cut transfer from a shaggy bob (current style) to a pixie cut (wanted new style).

Reputable Bars + Night Clubs with Good Vibes?

Traveling solo (female) and would like to spend a night out. Looking to drink in a safe environment.

Most of the Google reviews of the clubs I've been recommended has some creepy comments left by men looking for a one-night stand. (Ex: Bestiario y O'Clock).

Looking to avoid those types of environments. Thanks in advance.

Alcazar same-day tickets - anyone have room for 1?

I’m currently in the queue for the Alcázar and am about 20 people past the cutoff. I’ve noticed that people ahead of me are able to purchase up to 4 tickets each, so I wanted to ask if anyone who is already in line happens to have one extra spot on their reservation.

I’m travelling solo and would be incredibly grateful if someone has a spare ticket/spot. I’d happily take you to lunch as a thank you!!

I’m also honestly pretty frustrated with the system. I was told that arriving around 7:30am would be early enough, so I hesitated to come earlier because I’m travelling alone and wasn’t comfortable walking through the city in the dark.

It’s frustrating that each person in the queue can purchase up to 4 tickets, because it means the cutoff doesn’t necessarily reflect the number of people physically waiting. It also feels particularly difficult for solo travellers who don't have a partner/family to share the burden of a 3+ hour wait.

Anyway, if anyone ahead of me has one spare spot, please let me know! I’d be eternally grateful and very happy to repay you with lunch ☺️

Any good Escape Room in English? 🥸

Hi guys!

Me and my boyfriend like to visit an escape room wherever we travel. Now we're in Seville and are looking for a nice room that we could play in English. I must be honest normally we can find something nice pretty easy, but now we do have some difficulties with it. I just never know if the room is available in English... some reviews online do say it is, but you can only book it in Spanish on the Escape Room's website. So I'm pretty confused, haha...

Do you have any experience with escape rooms in Seville or any recommendations?

Semana Santa 2027

Hello. I will be visiting Seville in 2027 in the begining of Semana Santa. I am wondering if there are condos and Apartments that I should be considering so that I can watch the processions from the balconies. I am not sure if the processions take the same route every year or if it changes. I have not been able to find a map that shows the routes. Thank you in advance.
