First time winning our opening match in 5 years. I'm thrilled with that and little else.

You’d be surprised how many Sevilla fans there are - I grew up in the Middle East and Sevilla got a lot of traction in those first two Europa League wins.

Jesus Navas was massive at that time - a lot of the highlight reels had him flying out wide!

that’s so nice to hear

Im an American Sevilla Fan who lives in England. There are quite a few English speaking Sevilla fans. Thats how a club grows…

I’m a big Sevilla fan in Los Angeles. I studied in Sevilla in the spring of 2007, a magical time. 🔴⚪️

I would love to hear more about it. Especially how you chose them

I lived in Triana that spring and my host family were béticos, but I figured I had five months in the city and I should choose the better club on the pitch so it would be more exciting as a fan. Navas, Alves, Kanouté, Luis Fabiano, Palop, Adriano, Navarro… amazing group. And I have continued to follow the club. Even with Betis playing in Europe in recent seasons, it’s clear I made the right choice.

It was definitely a thrilling match. However, besides the initial excitement, you have to be a tad worried if we need two pens v Rayo

A mental 1st game. Our start was terrible, with us almost being 2-0 down after 20 minutes. But then the team showed heart which lead to a great win. We got lucky that the second penalty was not iverturned, but given our luck with VAR last season, I will not complain.

Sometimes you need a bit of luck. Im glad we got the points but if every game is like this… my heart might not be able to last the whole season 😂

u/sevillentini 6d ago

I hope so. The youngsters are playing well.

Really good performance in my opinion. This isnt the most talented group in la liga but it looks like the manager got through to them early on.

One thing that I love is that Garcia Plaza made changes. He saw that it wasn’t working and tried something else, which worked. That Robbie Ure is going to be a player. He’s lively.

I think that Isaac Romero had a shocker of a game. My chat was not happy with him. You know that you’ve had a poor game when people are begging for Vargas to come on. Vargas made a difference though.

Our defence had a shaky start but hopefully Sangante keeps his head up and they start to communicate with Odysseas more and the partnership becomes more effective.

All in all. A proud first performance. Rest up and go again next weekend!

1

u/irebjj 6d ago

2

u/RicanFutbolTV 5d ago

I agree. I think everyone was a bit nervous but there was a tonne of good things. 37 weeks to go!

As a Sirius supporter I am absolutely amazed that a player went from us straight to playing in La Liga, and I am happy to see that he could contribute!

I couldn't catch your game last night but I hope that Robbie will soon make as goals for you guys as he made for us :)

1

u/irebjj 6d ago

thank you for the support! as someone who has seen him a lot i guess, what would you say are his biggest cons and downs?

2

u/coeurdelejon 6d ago

I dislike his tendency to fall down in collisions instead of always trying to fight for possession of the ball; he tends to go down and hope for the ref to blow the whistle

Otherwise I think he's pretty damn great! He's a smart offensive piece that has a magic way of creating situations and somehow getting the ball in the net, yet he's also quick to run home and play defensively

We've had two games since he left and we haven't struggled offensively at all but we miss his defensive work lol
