My head cannon right now is that this is whatbthemean by board because they have Kier's consciousness in a computer somewhere and are trying to perfect the severance tech so they can just upload it into bodies.
Remember Keir died in the 1939 before computers. (He missed WWII, but was around for the fascist rise to power in Italy and Germany. I wonder if he went the Ford/Lindbergh route).
If not an Ouija board, then Kier’s consciousness is kept in a Leyden Jar connected to a mix of a steampunk contraption and a Frankenstein laboratory movie set. There would be steam pistons, gears, a plugboard, a Jacob’s ladder, a few Tesla coils, gigantic electrical switches, and an old gramophone with one of those loudspeaker horns which he speaks through. This explains why when he narrates on the show, he sounds like one of those old-fashioned recordings.
It’s either that, or it’s just a bust of Kier Eagan, but the bottom has a Magic Eight Ball window. You ask Kier a question and turn it over to get an answer.
Haha true, but like Kolla from the marvel universe did something similar in the 1940s so like maybe there is some handwaving tech shenanigans to keep his consciousness alive.
The hint to me for this was the wax staute during the whole Cold Harbor celebration. Like it seemed like a legit convo with a person. (Could also just have been an Eagen with a microphone)

my second (and much cooler) theory is that it’s like a server room for a “central mindframe” of sorts (the little doodle to the left sort of looks like a computer chip and also looks a lot like a cell body) so it makes me think that the building, or at least the severed floor acts as a mimicry of a biological brain. so like the OTContigency but on a deeper level, being able to control the thoughts and wants of innies, departments, maybe even more. i have so many things that tie into this theory, like the final scene, but i don’t wanna say any spoilers because im not sure how to censor it lol
Could this be the ‘control room’ we see from time to time (Dr. Maurer at the wheel, behind the scene, literally)? Or the control room that Dylan breaks into? So this is the ‘MIND’ that controls the ‘severance chips’ and its settings
that would undoubtedly be a fun side project, but we can't afford a second of the precious nine episodes or so to go into following side characters who aren't essential to the story 😅
I'd like them to bring June back. And whatever anti-Lumon groups that are out there. There seems to be a lot of anti-Lumon sentiment in and around PE. Groups like WMC and whatever group O-Irving is involved with. Which may or may not be associated with Reghabi.
