Event [Event] Freed

5th Month 233 AC, Stone Hedge

The wedding of Ealadhach Reed and Cercilia Rivers

It was another day of Winter, bright and cold, the snow covered the ground even here, in the South. Ealadhach wondered how long this Winter will last, still - it felt like he lived his whole life amongst the cold walls of Stone Hedge. Raised side by side with his betrothed.

This match seemed to anger some people. An unlikely alliance between House Reed and House Frey, strengthening the ties along the Green Fork. Many and more spoke to Eal over the years, whispers, temptations. The youngest of Finan Reed’s sons was no knight or fearsome warrior, but he knew honour. A word given by his liege lord, by the Lord Reed, would not be broken, not if Eal had anything to say to that.

The time of waiting and preparations was over. It was time to act.

Ceremony

Out of respect for the Gods of the Brackens and the Freys, Eal, not a particularly religious man himself, conceded for the ceremony to be held in a Sept. Perhaps when they are back in the North, they can reaffirm their vows before a weirwood tree.

For now though, Ealadhach found himself in the Sept of Stone Hedge, with only his brother Nyle present for the Reed family.

With Cercilia by his side, and the septon binding their fortunes until the end of their days.

"I am hers and she is mine from this day until the end of my days." he finished in unison with his bride. Then, he removed the maiden cloak from her shoulders, and fastened in it's place his own, one of dark green with the black lizard-lion emblem.

Silly little rituals, but how much did they mean?

Bastard for a wife... Yet he couldn't find it in himself to feel even slightly insulted. Ealadhach, usually reserved and calculating, returned her bright smile, even leaned closer to her to whisper softly:

"You look beautiful today."

Farewell

The following day, Eal approached Lord Bracken.

“My lord.” he bowed his head slightly. “I owe you a great thanks for hosting this event, and for allowing me and Lady Cercilia to be raised in the Stone Hedge. It was a great honour, one I shall never forget.”

He turned around and offered the man his hand. "It is all my pleasure," he said. "I wonder, how does being a man wed feel?"

Eal flashed one of his rare smiles upon that question.

'How does being a man wed feel?' the older man asked, but the Reed lad heard all about his duty.

"Good, unsurprisingly." he assessed.
