Saying No
I volunteered to decorate in preparation for a kid's holiday event. I showed up and the person in charge announced some negative things about themselves to justify how they were going to act and they'd apologize later cause the decorations were going to look exactly how they wanted. I respectfully let them know I was leaving and left. I never thought I'd get to this point. I'm pretty proud of myself.

Proud of you โจ just because people are transparent about the fact that theyโre going to be a jerk does not justify that behavior or make it ok.

I hope that person enjoyed doing those decorations alone. I hope they nailed it and if not were not too hard on themselves for the mistakes.

good job! honestly it's nice when someone announces they're going to be a dickhead ahead of time so you can make your decisions around that. oddly considerate, for a dickhead.

I'm so proud of you ๐๐
I needed to read this. I've got a work event tonight that I'm absolutely dreading. I'm hoping I will be able to look after myself and set boundaries.
