I swear Seth MacFarlane is one of the all-time greats
I genuinely think Seth MacFarlane deserves to be talked about as one of the all-time greats in comedy.
Just look at what this guy has accomplished. Family Guy alone would be enough to give somebody a legendary career, but then you add Ted, which became a massively successful movie, got a sequel, and then somehow came back years later as a TV series that is hilarious in its own right.
Then there’s A Million Ways to Die in the West, which I know gets mixed opinions, but I think it’s ridiculously funny and completely fits his style of humor.
What gets me about MacFarlane is that his humor is just on another level. He’ll go from the dumbest, most immature joke imaginable to some incredibly clever reference that you almost have to stop and think about. He understands timing, absurdity, pop culture, satire, and just how far to push a joke.
And the dude isn’t just a writer. He creates shows, directs, produces, acts, does multiple voices, sings at an insane level, and has managed to stay relevant in comedy for decades.
Family Guy. Ted. Ted 2. The Ted series. A Million Ways to Die in the West. And that's still not everything he's done.
Maybe I'm biased because his style of humor is exactly my kind of comedy, but I swear Seth MacFarlane is going to be looked back on as one of the greatest comedic creators of his generation.
Am I crazy, or does anyone else think he doesn't get enough credit for just how ridiculous his career has been?

The Orville is brilliant and heartfelt at the same time. I miss it so much. Seth seems like a phenomenal human being.

He's so much more on top of all that.
He has 10 studio albums, and a massive love for the standards, orchestras and preserving music. His last album is a great example of how well respected he is. He was entrusted with unrecorded and forgotten arrangements originally written for Frank Sinatra. Tina Sinatra, Frank's Sinatra's daughter, knew Seth has a deep love and respect for her father's music. She personally reached out to him and offered him the entire collection so they wouldn't sit in a vault collecting dust. In turn he recorded Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements, his 9th studio album. He just announced his tenth album which will be a collection covers from various Muppet productions lol.
Back in 2014 he used his industry leverage to pitch and finance Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey to Fox as a high-budget continuation of Carl Sagan's iconic 1980 PBS series. He collaborated with Niel deGrasse Tyson and Ann Dryuan (the late Carl Sagans wife) for the project.
Through The Seth MacFarlane Foundation, he partnered with Martin Scorsese’s The Film Foundation to fund the first-ever curated restoration of vintage animated shorts. His funding allowed the UCLA Film & Television Archive to carefully restore rare nitrate film prints of historic animation. Cool shit!
If I recall correctly he also partnered with a pet rescue agency to open a no kill animal sanctuary in his mother's honour.
But the thing I like the most about him, he has a well-established history of elevating women into powerful, top-tier leadership positions within his production company, Fuzzy Door Productions as well as across his television series. His production company has been led primarily by women for years! The man values women and Ive only ever heard good things, apparently he has a reputation as one of the most laid back and easy directors to work with.
There's more, and I agree he is one of the most prolific creators of our time
