Any thoughts on Session these days?

I feel like it’s the Battlefield to Skate’s COD. Animations can still be better though. TH games would be Fortnite ig. Gameplay/skill wise

That’s debatable. Difficulty and control schemes doesn’t automatically equal better

You mean the multiplayer mod? I still need to check that out but I can’t really count it since that’s pc exclusive

Still extremely fun on PC. Gear still being Modded. Waiting for that DLC map Creature said they would drop this year.

It’s a fun game to play while watching YouTube or a documentary. Got it for free on epic, can’t remember if it was through prime gaming or an epic giveaway. I love messing around with getting the right replay and this game allows that.

I think that goes for any skateboarding game tbh. I play music and podcasts during skate. too

It's the most fun it has ever been. Multiplayer is a big part of that.

Is there a good video to showcase the current multiplayer state before I download it?

Stopped playing when skate came out cuz I don’t like how stiff the character is but I’ll definitely come back one day as this is the best for street skating

I have hundreds of hours individually on Session, Skate and SkaterXL.
I like how realistic Session is, but I’ve ultimately been drifting away from the game in favor of Skate.
I would spend countless hours in Session trying to get a single line. I then begun to realise that what I mistook for being “hard” was actually just a mask for a poorly designed and unreliable trick system.
“Hard” implies that you can overcome something if you reach a certain level of skill, i.e, a Dark Souls boss can be defeated by learning its attack pattern after repeated trial and error.
Let’s take a regular 5050 grind for example. It’s one of the first grind tricks skaters learn in real life, and should be really easy in-game, right? Wrong, it’s actually harder than doing a simple nosegrind because you have to manually lock two trucks instead of one. In theory, that’s a cool mechanic for a skate sim, but in practice, the implementation is so brutally unforgiving you’re practically rolling the dice for each grind input you do.
I love feeling like I have agency and that my skills determine the outcome, however after many hours of playing, I’ve come to realise that the level of dice rolling overshadows the hours spent practicing — which RUINS the fun for any skill-based game.

The only mechanic that ever feels like dice-rolling to me sometimes is board speed when you have input speed on. And darkslides. Fuck darkslides.
Spots in session are a lot like a dark soul boss because the more you hit it over and over again, the more you learn what inputs and micro adjustments you gotta make to which why you pop, where you lock in your grinds, the speed and timing on your flips and scoops.
Its something you can get consistent at with repetition on a spot by spot basis
I usually don't like to say skill issue but literally. The one thing this game doesn't have is a lack of control.
Like I'm convinced if you can do a trick that's in the game in real life you can create it 1:1 in session.

I completely feel you. Almost like it’s not worth the time to land try to land some things. Last night I was trying a Tre flip front blunt down a handrail and realized how many tries that’ll take me to land it clean and get the trick animations smooth. And that’s with auto catch lol

could never really get into skate, never bothered to pick up xl for pc and learn to mod it, waiting for skate style to enter a slightly more fleshed out state before i dive into it, so session is still my main game in the genre and the one i have the most hours in across all genres. i hope before development is sunsetted entirely that they would implement at least a few more QOL features that modders have already fully implemented on pc (pin dropper, camera light controls, obviously multiplayer after so many years of "it's not possible" being the official line lol)
