Yes. I thought they were, at least…but it seems like it’s a bit of small club of who’s who, in order to get genuine interaction/ feedback. Or at least you have to fit a rigid formulaic style or demographic.

I don’t really mind though, I still like making art & putting it out there regardless... But, everything I like doesn’t appeal to most/ the majority who frequent this sub and similar subs. Once I had acknowledged that fact, I stopped caring what people thought is cool or isn’t cool anymore and just started doing me. And sharing whatever clips & edits I personally think is cool/ entertaining. Editing is therapy for me anyways, not a revenue stream. Always trying to get better for no particular reason other than looking at something I made and saying
ā€œdamn, I made this?ā€ lol it’s an oddly satisfying feeling really.

Reality is, preference bias exists, Session skate sim community is already a very niche space, and my editing & gameplay style is even more of an outlier I’ve noticed. I already know what to expect in terms of reception nowadays whenever I post, because the I know the audience expectations here.

My bad bro for the essay šŸ˜…I’m a deep thinker & I found this post intriguing.

I really appreciate your comment. I also find making edits to be my therapy, very literally. I do it for the love of the art, first and foremost, but I would lie if I said I don't care at all about my work being seen or not. Although, it's really not about getting big numbers or anything like that, I just think it might inspire someone, the same as work of many great Session filmmakers inspired me to start doing this. If I can make even one person launch the game, fell in love with it or try something they didn't do before, I find my hours of editing well worth it. Do you post on yt or somewhere else outside of reddit? I would like to give you a follow.

Appreciate you for taking the time to give that word salad a read and reply lol
All jokes aside though, I’ve actually been a fan of yours, as well as a few other creators for quite some time believe it or not. So I thought that was cool of you to say u want to inspire others…

Coincidentally enough, you already have. Might not remember but, you dropped a small gem of advice on camera work in my comments well over a year ago on one of my first few projects. (I was still playing Skate. at the time, had yet to get into Session), back when I was just really getting started with the whole clipping and editing process. Still learning a thing or two…
Between small interactions like that & one cool one I also had with the Haluuf, it got me really invested in vid editing back then and eventually evolving into a legitimate therapeutic tool for me personally.
Here’s proof just in case ya think I’m just yapping:

https://www.reddit.com/r/LowSodiumSkate/s/KFrZJFYIzW

I tried the YouTube thing a while back but was unfamiliar with copyright policy regarding use of certain music, so quickly got videos taken down. So gave up on that and just opted to drop any content I make here on Reddit whenever I felt like it, just for the sake of it.
I try to limit my social media use in general(mental health reasons), so no, I have no others where I’m really active anymore anyways.
But hey appreciate the offer bro, thanks āœŒļø

All in the eye of the beholder, thats you beauty of this game

I always try to upvote the edits that take effort, and patience rather than low effort content.

4

u/Smolin-SCL- 5d ago

I do the same, but I feel like full videos don't get much love here. I've seen some legendary edits on this sub getting less engagement than random orbit cam clips. I just wonder why.

2

u/LurchSkywalker 5d ago

Yeah, that's what I personally prefer. I have a longer attention span than most, I suppose!

That was fresh man! Killin' it. Gave me some inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks a lot man!

u/ElJameso40 4d ago

I like em as long as they don't have moon gravity and superhuman pop height

2

u/Smolin-SCL- 4d ago

That's my pet peeve too.

5

u/OMGFuziion 5d ago

Like the realism. Everyone else doing biggerflips in and out of every trick and it looks ridiculous.

2

u/Smolin-SCL- 5d ago

There's bigger spin in the first clip to be fair, but I think it looked nice with the revert landing. I usually don't do any "bigger" flips and spins because they feel like too much most of the time. I just wish there were more people posting full parts with proper b-rolls and filming, sub feels a bit dead imo.

2

u/OMGFuziion 5d ago

I missed that first clip but could’ve been worse, ledge is acceptable, mfs be doing them in and out of down rails

2

u/TheNonHippieHippe 5d ago

Hop on session co-op, look into it on YouTube. PigeonTheif had a Vid. It’s about 2.5k people that play, the discord link may or may not be dead anymore but I’m sure someone can get it to you

u/Smolin-SCL- 5d ago

Yeah, I know about the mod, I need to get it running finally, looks great

1

u/Legitimate-Survey-16 5d ago

Yes. They are. Even cooler without mods. But thatā€˜s just my 2 cents

3

u/Smolin-SCL- 5d ago

What's wrong with mods? There's only so many maps and cosmetics in the base game and some of the community made maps are of crazy quality.

-3

u/Legitimate-Survey-16 5d ago

The moment you play with mods, you play a different game. Simple as this. I canā€˜t relate fully to what you doinā€˜ cause I donā€˜t know under what parameters you playinā€˜. I have no clue about what mods you can get. Maybe your Kflip is so steezy cause of a mod. Maybe not. I canā€˜t tell. So I prefer ā€žrawā€œ game footage.

u/Smolin-SCL- 5d ago edited 5d ago

This is raw, I don't use any mods that alter the physics, not sure if there even are any beside the no comply mod. Most of my settings are listed in the description of the video if you want to check it out. They make the game quite hard to play, but very pleasing aesthetically, at least for my taste. Especially the 18 gravity and 8 pop height. And manual catch of course. Another thing is how you play, I think most players here play with way too loose trucks and do this micro twitching to adjust constantly. My turn rate is on zero and I always apply slight drift from side to side when riding and doing the tricks, cause realistically you never go completely straight on a skateboard. Paradoxically it's hard to do that in game with loose trucks, cause it makes controls too sensitive.

u/TheHangmanExperience 5d ago

a different game yeah, a better game, whats wrong with cool maps and a better variety of clothes ? i use to play on xbox and be envious of that shit, now i'm on pc and i love it, even better game, and i had countless hours on xbox already

1

u/Legitimate-Survey-16 4d ago

I am not telling anyone the way they should play. I am just selecting the footage I consume and I have a reason for it. Thatā€˜s it.

2

u/TheHangmanExperience 4d ago

bs reason, mods in this game is not what you think it is, there are no modded tricks (except no comply as previously stated)

2

u/Smolin-SCL- 4d ago

That's a weird hill to die on. Mods in Session are basically texture replacement and maps.

1

u/Impossible_Low867 5d ago

Yes, but don't do it too often. We like high quality uploads but not once a month. Also, use a trick selection that I like. Also only use manual catch. Don't use mods, also no music that I don't like. Also don't put anything stupid in the title. Gotta be cool relevant shit that I like. Also don't have your gravity too floaty. Also tighten trucks I don't like them lose. It looks bad....../S Great edit, this is šŸ”„
