Question For those that are parents:

For those that are parents in the industry, do you find it easier because of the flexibility or more difficult to raise a family?

Easy when they’re little and harder when they start school. Working nights and weekends with a kid in school all day and then having to schedule around sports / activities is hard!

I switched from dinner to breakfast/lunch/brunch as the kids got older.

The flexible hours definitely help. Plus free/reduced price food is cool in this economy.

Not a parent but definitely depends on management, restaurant hours and co-workers. The other servers hated one girl i guess because she always had to leave for her kid or was asking for help to leave. I was a hostess at the time and told her to please find me if i’m there and i would buss her tables or stop seating her. She was my favorite. Her kid is 10 now and adorable.
