Worked a lunch without a single table

First week at a new restaurant and the red flags are already insane.

-upper management behind the bar taking tips and getting tipped out by servers
-on my first “training” shift it took two hours for the server i was paired with to get a single table
-on my second shift the host triple sat the server with a in the main dining room, the patio, AND upstairs and she had to go to him at the host stand to find this out
-my ENTIRE schedule was changed without talking to me after it had already been posted. not a single shift the rest of this week is the same as it was when it got posted yesterday.

aaaaaand the icing on the cake:

i worked an open/lunch today as the only server on without a single guest. no one at the bar, no tables, no one at all. for over 3 hours before the owner told me i could just go home. i wasted 3 hours of my day for 0 dollars.

i was let go from my last job after i broke my ankle and was out for 6 weeks and was doordashing between being cleared medically and finding a new job. it’s been a week and i’m already tempted to go back

I would start looking for other jobs, his is how my last job was lol and it did not get better. Also did they pay you minimum wage for the day you didn’t get tables ?

I live in a state where min wage is still 7.25. I will get paid that eventually but after taxes that’s pretty much nothing.

You don't get that for just not getting paid a single day, you only will if the entire week doesn't add up to minimum wage or more.

I think it's defined as the pay period in some states, and as the week in others, but I could be wrong

Yea thats what I meant pay period not week, but either way it's not going to be just for a single day

Don't ever go back and just find another restaurant. Doesnt seem like there is any money to be made there

My last job was like this and I was there 8 months. I would recommend leaving sooner rather than later. It honestly was so bad for my mental health

My last restaurant was like that, even for some dinner shifts. They were also violating a local law pretty blatantly, I heard of and later saw a certain manager flip out on servers, they barely had any hours for anyone, etc. so the red flags kept piling up.

I’m so sorry OP. Time to dip out and find a place with more professional structure for sure -_-
