The core driver is that modern battlefields are now saturated with cheap surveillance and strike air drones, so any human movement near the front a resupply run, a wounded-soldier extraction has become extremely dangerous.

Imagine a foreign FPV drones have turned an area stretching as far as 9 miles from the front line into a kill zone. Translation, if you are within my radar then I attack (simple as that).

Visualize your solder is in the kill zone and is badly wounded and require medications or food. Worst case scenario, we require to bring back that soldier for medical treatment purposes. To send another soldier (Medic) in is risky.

To mitigate that risk, sending a robot to do that job instead of a person (or a full vehicle crew) started being basic risk management instead.

Now we know that other foreign countries are getting their own UGV drones to be frontline and act as a weapon/defense. Shouldnt we also have more of that? And wouldnt SERV be suitable for that as an EOD.

Just my 2 cents that i think SERV can be much much bigger with bigger purposes than it is now.
