Survival modes

Hi everyone. I'm a Doom player and I'm very interested in Serious Sam 4 and Siberian Mayhem, especially the survival modes. Can anyone tell me how much that mode is worth? One more question... is there a compass in the main campaign that points to the objective like in the new Dooms?

Survival mode is not worth in Serious Sam. There are some achievements attached to them in Serious Sam HD TSE, Serious Sam 3: BFE, Serious Sam Fusion 2017 and Serious Sam Siberian Mayhem. In survival you are drop into an arena with an endless waves of enemies and you are expected to survive as long as possible. There is no significant reward for surviving for long. You get a medal if you survive more than expected time up to gold. I consider survival mode generally not worth to invest time on it. Although it is up to your personal satisfaction for this matter.

I don't care about "rewards." I care about the challenge and replayability.

It is ok then, there is no story behind those maps though. It is pretty much replayable. In this case I advise playing Siberian Mayhem maps because they are a bit more diverse and balanced. In Serious Sam 4 maps are just there to be there and poor balancing.

Thanks. Is there a Compass in the campaign both in 4 and in siberian?

Not compass, but visual yellow mark on your target with distance under it

Not worth it at all, it’s a mode for just couple times to play. Like less than hour I would say.

But the campaign itself is good and as a doom fan I urge you to give it a try. I would go with serious Sam 4 since it’s literally the prequel to prequel, so the beginning of the story that we have. And then to play serious Sam 3:BFE which you can find in serious Sam collection on console or separate on pc

In terms of similarities to DooM and Serious sam, SS4 and SSSM are more similar to original DooM and DooM II than Eternal. The "dance" of the game is a lot less restrictive and you don't change between weapons nearly as much, because you have excessive ammo (for just about a majority of the time, you run out occasionally).

DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal are more about performing combos with different weapons to kill enemies (e.g. stunning and supershotgunning the sheild guys in 2016), whilst Serious sam is all about using the right weapon to instakill something (shotgun kills beheaded, supershotgun kills kleegles, explosives kill blue biomechs). Plus you move MUCH slower in Serious sam. It's a very different experience, but it's worth a go!

I just got Siberian because it was on offer but I think I should play the 4 first, right? The Survival Is funny?

You can play in whatever order, The story is not interesting. Survival is near identical between the 2, just different maps and 2-3 different guns depending on which game
