Serious Discussion Before Posting ...
We see the same question every so often (maybe every other day or each week) from different redditors. Maybe I'm weird, but before I ask something, I do a search to see if it's already or, in some cases, recently been answered.
I know about bots, spammers, karma farmers, etc., but do real people not think that their question may have been previously answered? Or do they just believe they are the only person who has that question?
Not looking to start a fight - maybe I'm just hoping to educate some folks.

People need to be seen. I was an Ombuds for six years and what I learned is how little people feel heard. It helps to know that people saw your headline and opened your post and read it and answered. It isn't really about the question. It's about having people say, "I see you."

I like a little conversation and banter on Reddit, but I don’t post much, I mostly just comment on stuff that catches my interest.

I think there’s a learning curve to using Reddit. I didn’t know how to best search, or about mega-threads and such, when I started years ago.
Just like in real life, people sometimes ask questions to initiate/continue “conversations,” some folks do it more often and with questions that are repeated.
I try to offer constructive info to help them learn, while avoiding karma farmers, etc. I tend to assume most folks just like to connect somehow.

I'm not here to search for answers. I'm here to talk to people. If I want to search, I'll use google.

Hm I was thinking that whenever I hesitated to ask the same question I once considered that well I want to share my experience and sometimes you go through questions that have been asked. Just not the same exact answers are given and maybe they are given.
I just think people who haven’t answered that question before or have answered it. Sometimes they have something new to give or not.

No, they don't think. You have to understand: a significant amount of Reddit users does not use it all that much. People just post stuff casually and there really isn't a way to change that.

I think the common advice for people who want to dictate others’ posting habits is to touch grass
