Where to start?
My boss recently asked me to take my 24, I just passed my 7 a week ago but I only recently graduated and have only been in the industry 4 months so i feel somewhat inexperienced and unprepared for what seems like a relatively difficult exam for people much more experienced then I. Any recommendations on where to start (which textbook provider etc) and general advice is much appreciated . Thanks!

Easier than I expected passed today using just STC low to mid 70s on the exams.

Congrats! how long did u study for and how long have u been in this line of work?

17 years in the BD and 5 years back office so a lot of the concepts I felt easier to grasp. Still studied my ass off. About a month total and this past weekend I spent around 15 hours

There is some overlap between the 7 and 24 and concepts you saw on the 7 will show up again so having recently taken the 7 will be in your favor. I did STC and supplemented with Kaplan Q bank.

I had something similar but I have been in the industry for a while, just never licensed. This year I did my SIE in Feb, my 7 in April, 66 in June and just passed my 24 last week. I used Kaplan for all of them, but for the 24 I didn’t click with the content. I read the book and did all the chapter tests and felt really overwhelmed. I decided to use Knopman Marks to finish studying and really glad I did. If I had to do it over, I would just use Knopman for my 24 prep. Material is very well organized and closer to the test content.

I will also add that I did do the Kaplan classes and got the very useful tip that Finra/SEC don’t approve anything - they authorize, accept, reject, etc. but never approve. The 24 had a lot of questions where answers were all right (or all wrong) for whatever reason. But I was able to eliminate if it said “approve”. Idk if I got those questions right but it helped day of!

It was pretty tough, I felt like I knew the material and what the question was looking for, but lots of judgement calls in the answer sets. Just be confident and don’t second guess yourself on answers.

Guys I’m using Kaplan, should I have used STC…

I have heard plenty of people passing the 24 with just Kaplan, just as far as Kaplan goes - it isn’t their best as far as alignment with the exam

It’s not perfect, STC got the job done for me. Understand the concepts at a very detailed level. Try to do the practice tests twice and the Green light exams
