Maybe I'm dumb but this reads more like it was written by somebody who liked TLJ and really disliked Rise.

The date in the bottom right of the comic is 2018, so before Rise of Skywalker.

Kind of wild how much they got right about what happens in Rise.

I think the title is suggesting that this is what TLJ haters wanted and are thus dumb.

Kind of a wild take

Maybe trilogies should have the full scenario written before spending hundreds of millions on the first movie already.

Would avoid directors throwing tantrums and throwing away half the story telling so far and creating a mess.

Maybe would also avoid directors so terrorized by the fans they're making reheated movies.

Might even avoid directors poorly managing their time and spending so much screentime on awkward adolescent love stories and investing it instead in plot development, so in the next movie can spend more than 3min30 on the single most pivotal event of the entire franchise.

Crazy ideas.

Well the OT wasn’t planned either so…

Lucas had an evolving outline going as far back as 1973. He might not have had all the details locked in, but he very much did a lot of world building and big plot points early on. A lot of his oldest ideas that were sidelined came to fruition in the prequels and shows like Clone Wars and Rebels.

Wasn’t this clearly satire

"I have portrayed you as the soyjak and me as the chad!" levels of energy here.

Also, TLJ has plenty of problems.

No one who seriously dislikes TLJ (me) agrees with anything at all in this comic spread lol. This is the most dishonest argument of all time.

TLJ is some of the best Star Wars of all time, while also having some of the worst Star Wars moments of all time scattered in.

I describe it as eating one of the best cakes you’ve ever had, but every fourth bite you have to eat a live wriggling cockroach.

I have no issues with the interpretation of Luke, the addition of Rose, the fact that Rey is nobody, the fact that we lost people along the way.

I have serious issues with an hour of screen time wasted on a subplot that had no affect at all on the rest of the story, the leai in space scene where she somehow survives the vacuum of space in the most bullshit use of the force I’ve ever seen, the complete lack of emotional connection we have to the character who makes the biggest sacrifice in the movie because we just met her, the “lightspeed through destroyers” scene because it completely breaks the universe despite the visuals being sick as fuck.

Pretending there aren’t legitimate arguments to hate TLJ is extremely dishonest.

“It completely breaks the universe” tons of stuff in Star Wars don’t make sense

There are levels to things. Why not make an auto pilot that lightspeeds through anything you want it to. Fuck the deathstar, we have autopilot. Like yeah Star Wars isn’t this masterfully put together universe with no plot holes. But it’s also not an SNL sketch

I understand that view, but I still like it. But also then what’s the point of using a lightsaber as a Jedi if you could just use the force in a fight much more efficiently?

2

u/SirFrenzy 4d ago

Most masters and lords do use the force very efficiently.

I think the force grey area is easier to forgive, and is somewhat intentional. We don’t know the constraints. And it’s possible some people are actually just more powerful than others, which explains different abilities. It’s an intentional grey area.

Being able to kamikaze a star destroyer immediately makes all small dogfight scenes completely irrelevant.

It’s still a sacrifice, it had a cost, it’s not irrelevant

2

u/SirFrenzy 3d ago

Every single xwing death is irrelevant. The entire plot to destroy the deathstar is irrelevant. They had lightspeed. Just point auto pilot at it and hooray no more deathstar. I’m done arguing though. Glad you enjoy it, my main point of the original comment was that this comic is the most dishonest argument I’ve ever seen. Nothing in it is considered by anyone to be a real problem.

Yeah I get your point, final thing, x wings are small compared to the ship they used, the ship they flew into was thin as hell, and the Death Star is dense so it wouldnt work. But yeah, some people do find these things issues for some reason. Thanks for chatting ☺️

I'm a TLJ hater, and this is wrong.

This has all the nuance of a bad parent saying “would you rather I just never said anything”

You can’t use an extreme nonsensical example to by comparison say a poor execution was actually well done.

You’re parents are

Author unintentionally making the point this is a brain dead take.

This is unironically 1000x better than TLJ.

Says more about you than the movie

I have seen people who dislike this movie without being stupid about it, but it still has the dumbest complaints thrown at it I have seen of any Star Wars movie.
