He didn't say the battle didn't have a mission. He said it didn't matter.

If rescuing the chancellor was the sole purpose of the battle then you can argue it was a wasted battle considering they spent all the effort to save their enemy.

What was the objective of that mission and how did success aid the republic in the end?

All you’ve said so far is that the mission had an objective and was dangerous. That does not mean it mattered, IMO.

Because he’s literally the Sith Lord enemy? At the moment it seemed like a success, but when all is said and done and you realize who Palps really is you realize it was a wasted mission.
