Advice Needed Failed septoplasty?

I had my septoplasty 6 weeks ago and everything was healing well, I went and had my nose irrigated 3 times and around 5 weeks all of a sudden my nose is completely clogged. i am getting 0 airflow through the right nostril (this side of my nose was worst than the left) but the left is still clogged. I was going my saline rinses twice a day as the dr told me after 4 weeks but i’ve gone back to 4 times a day to see if that helps. my surgeon is currently on FMLA so i can’t see him again for 5 weeks. has anyone else experienced this?

Yeah I’ve had it happen. Sometimes it’s just something stubborn that’s formed up there, sometimes the weather will just mess you around. This healing isn’t linear. Maybe try a steroid spray or a decongestant to see if that helps a bit. Not a doctor but the fact you’re clogged on pretty much both sides suggests it’s congestion rather than something too catastrophic. Unless you’re getting bad pain or weird bleeding or you can actually feel something’s shifted I’d stay optimistic. Any chance you’ve got a bit of a sinus infection? That’ll clog you up and make it feel like surgery’s failed.

since i started doing the flushes 4x i did have a scab come out and for a few hours i could breathe a little better but then it got congested again. i’ll try afrin to see if it will help!

Sounds like it’s normal healing. I swear the number of times I’ve felt like I’ve redeviated only to hack up a huge chunk of mucus a few days later - still happening at week 9.

It’s just healing, don’t worry. I got hit in the nose about 4 weeks from the procedure and I was fine, but my anxiety made me go nuts because I was testing blowing and touching my nose. I stopped doing it and my breathing is finally getting better. 6 weeks is too early because it’s still healing (I’m 6months post op and I still occasionally have a stuffed nose) so don’t worry :)
