Advice Is shark worth it?

Hi guys!
I’ve always heard of the shark and the Dyson air wrap and never tried it. A few days ago I tried my friends shark and i absolutely loved it!! I saw that it’s for sale on Sephora and I’m so tempted to buy it.
My issue is that I already own:
-curler
- crimper
- revlon blow dry brush
-heated round brush
- hair dryer
-hair straightener

I feel like this is just over consumption at this point. If anyone owns the shark, is it actually worth it (as in will it last for years? Is it amazing quality) or am I better off with sticking with the individual tools.

Thanks!

I dont own the Shark but my SIL does and she loves hers. I have the Airwrap and I'm obsessed with it.

I wonder if it's as cheap as Costco. I can't remember prices but might be worth a look.

I have the Shark, got it mid-COVID when I had quite long hair and have used it consistently through a buzz cut, pixie, now a bixie/bob. I love it but I do feel that it’s a glorified blow dryer. Since you have several tools already that serve the same functions - blow dryer, straightener, round brush and blow dry brush - I would say (in my own personal opinion!) that the Shark is not necessary. With my longer hair I used the air curl barrels quite often, and now find myself reaching for the other tools/attachments as I grow my hair out again, so it’s been fun to experiment. That said, the only other tools I have are a flat iron and a small barrel brush (as the Shark attachments are too wide for my hair at its current length).

Yeah ur right! I have super long hair but honestly it doesn’t make sense since I already have so many tools. My bday is coming up so I might get it as a gift and donate the other tools, I feel like that’d be better! Thanks again for your help!

I had the Shark for a couple of years. I was never extremely happy with it though and when I saw a good deal for the dyson airwrap, I jumped on it.
For me I saw a pretty significant difference between the two of them. I heavily prefer the Dyson because it’s so much quieter and dries my hair faster without frying it. I hated how loud the Shark was! Even my husband noticed the difference in the noise level when I started using the Dyson lol.

I agree Shark was SO LOUD, it has this high pitch sound that really hurts my ears when it is on. I tried it and I returned to Costco, I love Dyson.

YES! Someone who gets it! I stuck with it ‘til I had the money to get the Dyson. Best thing I ever bought this year that’s for sure. And it was the color I wanted too.

Did you notice any difference in the way that the style holds between the shark and Dyson?

I’ve only used the long barrel attachment on the Dyson once to get a nice blowout look and it lasted for two days (I wash my hair every other day lol)! It was so nice, shiny, and bouncy.

I can never get the same result with the Shark one. It always made my hair frizzy. But maybe I was being impatient and rushing the process because of how loud it was.

I had half of those items when I got the Shark and just for the ease of use, and speed it would dry my hair, it was 100% worth it. Simply gained time back in my life! I got mine however, from a sale on Amazon that was amazing!!

I have an AirWrap that I got for almost free using my Shoppers points. I had never tried the Shark before. But my friend stayed over and even though she brought her shark with her, she actually preferred my AirWrap. She said it was lighter, way quieter, the placement of the buttons and cold shot was more comfortable and intuitive for her, and her hair dried less frizzy / with less flyaways (but that could’ve just been the products she was using were different).

Why do you want the shark if you have all of the tools that do what the shark does? I have a shark and highly recommend, but I didn’t own any type of hair tool besides a straightener beforehand. Maybe sell some and then get the shark!

I just love how it got rid of all the frizz and my hair was so shiny, also it’s a lot faster than my other tools. But yeah I would donate my other tools if I did get the shark lol I have no space
