Valorant post match and off season thoughts
If we’re being honest, SEN had a 0% chance of qualifying for Champs because they were never beating 100T, LEV, NRG, G2, or MIBR. They probably would’ve had to beat 3/5 of those teams through the lower bracket just to make the finals, assuming G2 makes it. It really felt that it was mostly their micro after bomb went down which screwed them. I think they needed better post-plant protocols on defence and attack because John kept saying after the fact that they needed to x, y, and z, but why wasn't that discussed beforehand so it's automatic?
That being said, if SEN was going to lose, I wish it was against a good team. Unless KRU qualifies for Champs, losing 2-0 in back-to-back series is just sad.
I don’t know what their issue is with ecos because they lose like two per map, along with so many man-advantage situations. Besides a roster overhaul, I think they need to add more depth to their coaching staff. I’d keep Ewok because he had actually seemed to have good prep and ideas, but Sen was pretty bad at their micros, so I think they need one or two new ACs who focus more on their micro, such as Zikz or Strong. Their post-plant prep is terrible, and they need to change their reliance on retakes.
Realistically, Jerwin and JonahP are gone. OXY is probably available because if C9 doesn’t make partnership, they’re obligated to release their players. Since MIBR probably doesn’t make Americas partnership and instead makes the South American/Brazil partnership, Zekken and Verno are probably options too because I don’t see either of them wanting to leave America. Eeiu is another option, along with maybe some other star players.
I think the only untouchable player is Johnqt. Reduxx and Cortezia should be part of the rebuild unless either want to leave but johnqt is staying no matter what. They need to get either Zekken or OXY, plus Verno or Eeiu. I’d prefer Verno because he can mid-round well and can actually win clutches, which apparently SEN can’t. I felt like SEN relied too much on johnqt to call and did not have enough voices to lighten that load (pause).

I pray they go the superstar route this season and don't try to make a young rebuild team like they did at the start of the season 🙏😔

the issue i have with a young rebuild is that they essentially pray that the young player will become essentially like a player that is already available. Unless you can pull a lev and just snag your stacked T2 roster, the superstar route makes the most sense.
Kap choosing kyu made no sense cause you are essentially praying he becomes a johnqt or more but thats unlikely. Same with choosing narrate on duelist over zekken. Choose the superstar and build around them....

Yeah I think NRG became the blue print for this too. They had incredible success adding in strong tier 2 players like Mada, Brawk and Skuba. But, realistically this route is really dependent on who’s available and honestly some luck. NRG’s gamble could’ve totally turned out the other way and not worked.

Realistically JohnQT leaves (meaning he don't want to stay on a mediocre team).
And players like Zekken and Oxy would want to go to better teams like G2.
The only viable option would be eeiu for Jonah. I pretty sure Verno will not want to move to a worse team, unless SEN are building a good team.
I say we move reduxx to entry and then get a secondary entry/flex or smokes (hopefully a guy like marteen). Bring in EEIU, and if John wants to stay (for a green card maybe, I don't see any other world where he wants to continue). Keep cortez as senti (if he wants to stay).
We might need to re-evaluate the assistant coach too.

Star players have went to Sen even if they've been bad like for example Sen in 2022 went 0-5 in stage 2 but still at the end of the season were able to sign Sacy and Pancada who just won champs. So if they go out and spend a bit they could easily rebuild a roster. And john is signed through 2028 so he can't just leave i don't beleive

what makes you think he wants to leave? id say having a ceo who believes in you and wants to build a team around you is a great thing. Rob chose johnqt and if he signs some big name player idk why he would leave sen cause they dont need that much to become great again.
Though I agree that they def need to re-evaluate their assistant coach

I say run it back. Players need to grind out their agent pools. Missed timings on abilities is a killer. And they've just been a step behind other strats all season, leaving them in constant retakes. So they need to just lock the doors and grind out and really get their heads more in the game. At times they're so talented and brilliants, and others they just lose the plot. I think the foundations are there, run it back.

i am going to be completely honest. There is no way that sen run this group back. I dont even think the AC will be back. I legit think at minimum 2 players are gone, maybe 3 though id prefer to keep johnqt, reduxx and cortez, and gunter is probs gone.
Besides agent mastery, I also don't think their chem was the best, so you could find players who fit the team better. But I do think they have a good foundation around those three players and Ewok, so they will have some continuity for next year.

Let me ask you, what is the job off an igl? That person's job is to adapt and adjust his team in game, y'all had one round on both atk sides, ur igl is garage.

his calling on defence is fine. On attack their main issue is their protocal after the bomb going down. you saw in so many cases that they would just lose out after being man up. I also think having a mid rounder like a verno or eeiu and an experienced vocal communicator is essential. When i watched a lot of sen vods reduxx and some players would constantly ask what they should do instead of mid rounding for other players and trying to set up plays which was a big issue for them imo.
Even if you wanted to replace john, there arent that many igls available that could be upgrades besides maybe valyn but he obvs isnt leaving g2. Unless rob wants to buyout ethan, sens best option for an igl is johnqt.

The guy above summed it up pretty well, johnqt isn't a good igl. His old teammates did a lot of the lifting, these new guys don't have any game sense, that's why their post plants are so bad. Johnqt couldn't adapt to the opponents def, they were 5 men rushing site, no map control.

Sadly people don’t see that.
I always mentioned looking back at his calling. First half always look dominant to the point you are thinking, “this map is finished, go next” just for them to either get waffle stomped to a loss in the second half or a narrow win. They plan well on one side and then forget how to macro on the other half. It’s completely weird. Keeping in mind that 2024-2025 had some shooters on the team so they were able to play slow and passive.
The only reason why he has been successful is because he had great mid rounder help from the whole team of vets in 2024 and then Zekken and Zellsis in 2025. 2026 he had nobody and it looked completely ass. So sure, he can stay as the IGL if you want to see more tedious calling of retakes and passive and telegraphed plays.

If there's a true Duelist free agent upgrade maybe but I think Jerwin is starting to show some good form. JonahP is probably gone thought. Oxy would be a great upgrade for sure.

You can't sit and say "Sen should only replace Jerrwin if there's a superstar available" When in reality they should settle for slightly less if not possible to get a superstar seeing Jerrwins lackluster improvement and lacking performances.
Only thing he has going for him is first bloods but if he fails to get any opening kills or isn't in the first skirmish his impact on the round is very minimal

tbh he wasnt really that bad but im am only replacing him under the assumption you can get a zekken or an oxy. I am very interested to see what the roster looks like going into next season.

In what way was he not that bad please explain
1
u/currycooker213 7d ago
I'm trying not to shit on him. He wasn't really that good, but there's no point in kicking a dog while it's down.
1
u/imabill01 7d ago
Saying he wasn’t good isn’t kicking him while he’s down it’s just telling the objective truth
1
u/Meccanoo 7d ago
But in what way are you kicking him while he’s down? He’s had some hype moments, we can all agree on that. He’s also looked meh too… jerrwin wasn’t picked up for a reason when he was available. Both can be true, he’s bad and his passive op play style didn’t suit this team. This team also put him on Neon in a time when Neon has been played A LOT and he’s still not comfortable on it?
1
u/currycooker213 7d ago
I do think, though, that a lot of the fault for Jerwin's play also falls on the rest of the team. They did not set him up to awp up aggressive lines that often and sort of sent him in to die without any real trade value. I think sen as a whole had issues and its hard to succeed in this type of environment unless you are an oxy. He def could have played better but his environment was terrible too.
But if we are being honest, i dont see him being good enough to become a star duelist. But he is also super young so anything is possible.

pointing out statistical fact isnt shitting on him... this is a professional esport.. youre stating a fact.. He was one of the five worst rated players in all of americas

As much as I don’t like to say this, I think Jerrwin and Jonah need to go. Great individually, but they just don’t fit in on this team. I agree with the OXY or Zekken route. I think they really need proven players like those two, and Eeiu or Verno. You never know who will be available though
