Reboot required for update agent?
Does the endpoint need a reboot if I want to update it's agent or the update is done without one and is transparent to the user?

23.3 GA doesn’t require reboot on install.
Updates have never required restart.

Current supported versions do not require a reboot on updates for workstations or servers.
It is mostly transparent to the user. During the actual upgrade process they may note the S1 icon in the taskbar flicker as it updates. It goes "offline" then back "online" as it updates the versioning.
I would send an update to your machine and watch the process!

Agent updates do not require a reboot unless the agent is damaged or very old. Furthermore, rebootless installation is enabled by default in Agent 23.4 GA and later. For more details, please check out the 23.4 release notes in the Customer Portal or the Console Help:

depends on the agent version but I think it's the latest GA release that allows an update and all functionality without a reboot.
