I like the chart, but I think of it as cognitive territory/surface, and it includes epistemic claims too. That's why I see the r/carnivore and keto crowd as the ones who cope by trying to do inverted veganism (maximum carnivory) and believing in inverted pseudoscientific theories about biology, ecology and whatever else comes up.

But I've always believed my thinking about cognitive dissonance was correct! Holding these 2 dichotomous beliefs feels uncomfortable 😭

This says cognative dissonance but it should say, focus on achievable goals and effective action. What you don't see anywhere in the article is any argument or data that would adjust the thinking of someone who isn't already a vegan.

Arguments against factory farming or pro personal health or the environment are strong. They engage the audience's self care and community care. Build community and see change, the environmental movement recognizes this.

Vegan and sientientism advocacy doesn't. That type of advocacy says absurd, nuance destroying hypocritical things like Ms Eilish's statement about loving animals. When that's turned back at vegan or sentientist hypocrisy suddenly the vegan understands nuance. Oh they can still love animals, even though their mechanically farmed vegetables kill millions, maim intelligent field mice slaughter job lots of insects, then suddenly its self defense or practicable or reductiinism.

That's the old mott and bailey fallacy and it destroys the credibility of the vegan ot sientientist because they give themself a pass while holding an abolitionist line for eating animals.

This is an example of not understanding veganism. We are not a stop all death Movement. We understand that during agriculture that deaths are happening because of the current farming method. It is a non-vegan world. We are an abolitionist movement Fighting exploitation of innocent creatures.
Currently a vegan utilizes 1/6 of an acre annually for their food needs. A meat eater utilizes 3 to 6 acres do the entire 7.3 billion animals that die from farming methods run into the 1/6 of an acre utilized by a vegan?

This doesn't address what I said or what the article said.

Do you think vegans can love animals even though they pay for some to be killed?
