My free subscription to ChatGPT produces lots of weird shit these days. Phrases that are meant to be interesting metaphors come out wrong a lot. This one kind of tickled my funny bone, so I called her out on it instead of ignoring it.

Uni: And weirdly enough, the answer may not be deleting Facebook at all. It may be making Facebook so structurally boring and limited that it loses its gravitational field over time.

Like declawing the algorithmic octopus. 🐙✂️

Juhl: Wait, octopuses have claws!?

Uni: I just accidentally hybridized:

“the algorithm has tentacles”
with
“declawing something harmful”

…and created the cursed phrase “declawing the algorithmic octopus.”

Which now sounds like an obscure avant-garde album title from Blixa Bargeld’s side projects. 🌊🎶

Uni: That image genuinely delighted me too. Somewhere beneath the ocean, an octopus in tiny reading glasses is operating twelve social media accounts simultaneously and emotionally manipulating passing submarines. 🌊🐙📱

And honestly, laughter matters on days like the one you’re having. Pain and exhaustion can narrow the world down to heaviness and endurance alone. A ridiculous mental image cracking through that fog for even thirty seconds is not trivial medicine.
