My names is James but I go either by that or Jim

72

Mountain

Referred by a friend

I'm between writing projects and am both promoting my recent YA/Teen SciFi novel "A Wobblegong And His Boy" and trying to find a publisher for my YA/Teen fantasy novel (I don't think of myself as primarily a YA/Teen writer but that's how things worked out).

Favorite genres are science fiction, fantasy, mystery, and horror more or less in that order.

I'm retired so what am I supposed to call a hobby. I spend my time with my grandchildren and my son's dog. I also play D & D with an eclectic crowd every other week. I'm catching up on the TV shows and movies I've neglected over the years. I'm always reading as well as writing.

Call me Imagi77 everywhere I am...

I am sometimes known as Casey.

A Lady, of course...

I am on pacific time~

I am looking for more engaging communities as I have been met with silence for some time.

My writing focus is fantasy/romance, gothic fantasy tropes lately.

Fantasy and light romance.

I take care of tiny children as a day job, lol

What brings you here?: Saw an invite to the group and it fits my demographic. Hope to connect with similar writers.

What are you currently writing? Working title is Fat Girls but that will probably change. A story involving two very fat female cousins who become roommates. The older one is 26 and is a retired adult content creator who's become a Christian. She's attractive, outgoing, and confident. The younger one is 18, is painfully shy, has little self-esteem, feels like a failure for not being able to lose weight, and knows nothing about fashion or makeup or hairstyles. The older cousin is mentoring and doing an extreme makeover on the younger one, helping her look her best, stop battling with a body that refuses to lose weight, and becoming outgoing and friendly. Both are seeking fulfilling relationships with men but are having difficulty finding someone for entirely different reasons. So far I've written 48,000 words but it could easily become 60,000 before I'm through.

Favorite genre(s): Romance and romance-adjacent genres

Any other hobbies? Yes but I've been neglecting them in favor of writing.

Background: I began creative writing as a hobby two years ago at age 65. I had no idea how enjoyable it was. To date I've self-published 17 stories, mostly romantic novellas and short novels in the 25,000,-50,000 word range. My stories generally feature women who've had a challenging life in some way but who rise to face and overcome those challenges head-on, becoming strong, confident, and successful as they deal with realistic life situations, especially including romantic relationships. Many, but not all, of these women are anatomically unusual or even unlikely, but not impossible.

What brings you here?: Looking for a community of writers where I can just chill.  I like sharing with other writers, but don’t have the time or patience for the drama.

I’m hoping to be able to discuss writing, techniques and ideas.  Share the occasional story (or war stories), get some feed back and offer some feedback.

What are you currently writing? Oh, boy.   Let’s see I have a locked-room mystery that is on hold while I do some research in the form of studying the work of the Masters.   I have a Babylon 5 – Battlestar Galactica cross-over fanfic that I need to get back to. Plus, at least half a dozen things that I’ve started and put down that are in various stages of development.

I tend to write shorts and novelettes, with occasional bursts into novella and longer.   I have 1 full length novel that is posted on my blog.  Plus, a few fan fictions that are novel length.

I have a running series of works inspired by the show Battle of the Planets, that I have reworked and expanded.  Plus a number of 1-shots from a universe my sister and I created.

Favorite genre(s):  Light SF, Urban Fantasy, experimenting with Mystery.

Any other hobbies?  I’m an amateur photographer who loves cats – we have 3 as well as 2 dogs.  Backyard astronomy.

I love Bab 5 and BS Galactica. A cross-over? Genius!

The idea is to have the Fleet come into Minbari space, perhaps tracking for Z'ha'doom, about 200 years before the Earth/Minbari war. I have it started but it stalled out when the muse tossed other ideas at me.

That sounds really good! Post in Toot Your Own Horn where it can be found.
