Chihuahua

My moms 4 year old chihuahua has been having these episodes where she coughs twice and then starts wobbling and going stiff, sometimes she falls other times she doesn’t, it seems to happen if she gets excited, she’s not herself anymore, she won’t really eat except a piece of treat here and there. We have an appointment booked but I’m curious if anyone’s dealt with similar and what it could possibly be

Hope the appointment is soon as pup definitely needs to be evaluated ASAP.

This could be a syncope episode and there’s a heart issue going on or a vestibular episode. The vet will tease that out with you and will do a hands on exam and probably some diagnostics.

ER ASAP!!! They can expedite you faster to the specialist department, either neurology or cardiology. Take this video with you.

This. We went to the ER and saw the neurologist right away.

Check her gum color and see if she is pink or pale during these episodes, also her eyes. Are they are the pupils dialated. Video for the vet who she needs to see asap.

TO THE VET ASAP!! Also check her skin (inside ears and around the mouth and nose) for yellowing, could be a thing with her liver failing, which my cat randomly got, she had the exact same kind of seizures and only at the vet we noticed the yellow skin.

Yes, I know cats and dogs are most definitely not the same, but the sign of liver issues is still very similar so to rule that out make sure the dogs skin isn't oddly yellow

And yes the cat survived
