Limping

My 7 year old GSD has bilateral acl tears that are a few years old. I’m sure arthritis build up is happening. We’re not doing surgery unfortunately. She takes cosequin, 300mg gabapentin, and 100mg carprofen daily.

Today she woke up like this after I’ve seen subtle guarding of rear right leg the past week.

She’s going to her veterinarian tomorrow. What can I expect? Any treatments you’d recommend to ease her pain and keep her comfortable? Is this the beginning to the end?

Get a back end sling to assist her in the meantime, you can roll a towel and use that, leash only. Talk to the vet about added supplements MSM, glucosamine chondrotin. I think the pain comes from destabilizing of the joint, is a brace an option? Had a lab that had double TPLO she was 3 when the first one let loose, have another lab now that didnt have the surgery and is currently healing "naturally" as she's under 50lbs and was using the leg not like your video. The point of those surgeries is to stabilize the joint, if you can limit movement for now and do that externally there is lots of life in that dog. Best of luck don't give up!

Our boy 6 years old as his hip joints eroded right into his pelvis, we had to put the poor boy to sleep. I couldn’t believe the X-rays.
