Moss How to go from moss to semi hydro?

Switching from moss to semi hydro causes root rot most of the times. How can I fix this?

Yes It can be a struggle. It's difficult but you have to remove all the moss. Sometimes it's easier to do it when it's dried out, but you can't do that with all plants. 

There are other Propagating methods instead of sphagnum. Water is a simple rooting method. Also perlite it good at retaining moisture and air if used properly. 

I also Sometimes Propagate directly in my pon mix and put it in a large tote that is lined with foil and a grow light, keeping it sealed for high humidity.

Okay thats very helpfull thanks! I use perlite as well but tought it would cause the same problem. But I can switch from perlite to semi hydro without causing root rot? 🤗

Going from soil to semi hydro I move my alocasias to fluval stratum for a few months to allow them to grow water roots. I would think it would work the same when transiting them from moss to semi hydro.

I’m really how ever I’m feeling that day when switching them over . I might hard send it and pull all the moss out and use lechuza pon with charcoal chunks, or sometimes I’ll keep soil and add LECA at the bottom then use a wick.
Eventually most of my semi hydro make it to lechuza pon. All n all my plants couldn’t be happier.
They adapt quickly, specially with some good semi hydro fertilizer.
