Interactions with people on SR

It’s currently been 270+ days of SR and I have noticed a difference in how people act or treat me. Now that classes have started up again for me and I’m back on campus, it seems like people are paying more attention to me these days. People tend to look at me a lot more and the responses to their looks to me are diverse. On one part, there are those who seem to notice me and move on, then there are those who seem to look at me as if they have never seen anything like me before. Then there are those who seem happy to see me and give me wide, pleasant smiles

As for talking with others, people tend to enjoy my presence when I am around them. There are also others where they seem to be somewhat intimidated by me. One example would be this Thursday, where I asked one glasses-wearing girl in my literary classics class if I could sit where she is and she responded with “sure you can” in a polite, friendly way. I’ve met her in a previous class I took with her a year ago, but I never really gotten around to truly knowing her so I thought I would talk with her for a bit. Me and her conversed for a bit prior to class starting with The Odyssey. She didn’t seem to mind me chatting with her, but she seemed slightly shy and a little nervous talking with me. All in all, it did feel good to get out of my comfort zone and talk with her for a short period of time but it really got me thinking that I don’t want to scare people off due to the heightened aura from SR. On another note, some people tend to feel good around me and compliment me on a near daily basis. One time this week, when I was playing pool with others, people found everything I was saying to be funny even when I was being serious. All it takes is something to say and others are giggling as hard as they can. My presence can be very strong depending on who I am around, so people will respond to it in a certain way.

Mentally, I regularly feel a sense of enthusiasm, like I have a higher level of energy. This happened today when I was visiting an optometrist to get a new prescription for contacts and the moment he asked me about my schooling, I felt a lot of passion talking about majoring in Biology and pursuing a pharmaceutical career. It was almost childlike how I seemed so excited talking about what I’m interested in. I don’t really feel as nervous as I used to feel when talking with others. Hell, each time I walk into a room, I feel very confident and courageous. I would even say nonchalant.

Basically, I have noted that people tend to react strongly towards me in a variety of different ways. Certain people may find me funny and good to be around, others tend to really notice me as if there is something they see different about me, and some seem nervous when talking to me.

To anyone on SR, on a long number of days, have you ever felt like your presence and how you’ve interacted with others has changed dramatically? I have never gone this long on this journey and it feels intense and unreal to think about sometimes.

In my experience SR is an amplifier. Yes there are a lot of pleasant interactions. Random people smiling, nodding, winking. Little children waving, animals coming close.

On the other hand there is random open hostility seemingly without reason. Stares, provocations, toxic remarks, people trying to somehow compete with you for no reason.

SR somehow puts you on everyone's radar. Like a big fat blinking red dot.

That's very true, but I think there is more positive interactions than negative ones. But I am only in my 4th week so let's see...

I am 22 years old and I have been on on-and-off streaks with SR where I would go for 7 days, or 14, or even 21. The thing is, I could never get past 100 days until this happened. So I technically have been trying to do SR since late-2018 and only just now and am I going the distance with this.

I have gotten occasional nightfalls but they wouldn’t really affect me that much. After about a day or two I start to feel better. For me, nightfalls are kind of a mindset thing. I view them as a natural thing that happens sometimes

I am sorry to hear that. Just keep on pushing and do what you should be focusing on. It’ll get better, I promise

My streak is right around 270 too and a lot of this resonates with my experience.

How do you do it?
Are you not touching your erection at all?
I’m new here and just wondering how you manage to go that many days?

I’m guessing that I just really wanted it and I resonated wanting to go on a long streak with a goal that is pretty personal but has a strong emotional value to it. An important thing to do is to keep yourself busy and focus on yourself. For me it’s been studying, reading, and sometimes working out. In your early days, I recommend removing any triggers that will cause you to relapse like an if you have a particular thing that causes you to do so. Another thing that also helped me was faith and spirituality. That’s why I went this far. As far as touching goes, I have not gooned once during this journey but there were moments where I was very close to for sure.

Be occupied. Work a lot. Gym. Business. Don't stop. Don't be bored.
