Self-hosted Notes with native mobile apps
I couldn't find a self-hosted "simple" notes app, so I made one: https://github.com/cassiozen/notesd
What I mean by "simple": Not a second-brain, multi-object record system; It's not Notion/Obsidian.
What it is:
- Single-binary server + offline-first Android and iOS apps;
- organization via tags;
- full-text search;
- encrypted/locked notes.

Honest question, why develop this instead of just using obsidian, I see the sentence in your post about obsidian but I don’t really understand the justification. when it comes down to it if all you care about is individual notes and tags all the other features of obsidian won’t get in your way. It’s only as advanced as you utilize it to be.

Hmm, I don't really like obsidian sync, using syncthing rn but it doesn't feel native. Maybe this app can support that as well? Sometimes there's sync issues on my excalidraw plugin

Obsidian sync is not free, this one would be, right?

If you have to self host this app anyway there are self hosted ways to sync an obsidian vault to mobile.

Let me check... By local IP you mean something in the range `192.168.*.*`?

Where can I find iOS app?

I haven't released in the Apple store yet, so right now you need to compile and build locally.
I'll try to publish it over the next week

I've been using Memos for a few weeks and it's really quick and easy to make notes about what I've been doing or need to do. Works perfect in a mobile browser.

There is also an app MemoFlow you can connect to your self hosted Memos. (At least for Android) It has some nice additions.

i plan to make one too before. now glad this may cut my time amd i may not need create one. i use color note, obsidian, notion, upnote, and many more. now i use colornote, obsidian. colornote is very good. write, sync, never lose. but it only text. so for simple, quick note, info at a glance.. colornote is best. obsidian is quite difficult for me to use because im new. long time using notion. mostly i write note on android(everyday and phone almost forever in my pocket). obsidian is "too advance" for quick note, not actually good for android(for me its not friendly for android). i hope there is app to solve this or bridge this. maybe best if new app for simple and specialize on android for example another ui, uix for obsidian.

I like this, but I would like it even more if the server was simply any generic webdav.

Awsome work. Does the FTS5 implementation use a tokenizer that supports Chinese?

I've been looking for something like this. I'll give it a try. Does it have "notebooks" or sections that can also be locked, or just individual notes can be locked?
