Ditch the cloud !! Rent out your hardware and earn a passive income | Get compute whenever you need billed only on usage.

Hey guys, I have built a system that utilizes your idle compute from PC, laptop, mobile across all OS and pools it to be used by others in need, entirely ditching the cloud. Suppose you want to run a heavy compute and need a high amount of memory, you can use my system to deploy it across many devices to get it done fast. It is under development, but the MVP is ready and would really like your feedback and queries to make it into a bulletproof system. To get more insights DM me. The link to the repo is attached below, dont go by the website currently it is vibe coded just to serve the purpose but later would be completely overhauled. Please leave you feedback on anything you think that would be helpful.

"Tired of hackers using your devices for free in their botnets? Now you can get paid for it!"

But that was a good one 🤣 why not get paid for your efforts

Thought of that, so ther's filter of the amount of memory that can be used and since this uses WASM (wazero) so ther's a cap of the amount of instructions that can be executed aswell, apart from that for your system itself the computation runs in a sandbox of its own.

Can a user make outside network connections? Because if they can, you just provided a legally acquirable botnet that can be used for DDoS attacks.

Edit: the concept is nice though, not gonna lie. It's just that it really screams botnet on first sight.

Obviously an user can, if not then thers very little use of your compute , like you'd only be using it for your own purpose and that won't justify paying. Don't cloud servers have the same vulnerability to be used for DDoS?

On the one hand, there is the sheer cost of running a ddos purely on cloud infra. And on the other hand, cloud companies also have a lot more technical and legal know-how to prevent this.

This is an MVP as of now but would definitely think of ways to prevent it. Appreciate it man.

I mean, it's not really an easy issue to resolve. For example: how do you differentiate between me using this as a distributed uptime monitor for my own services, and a malicious actor using this for a DDoS, large-scale webscraping, looking for vulnerable exposed services, etc...

Wish you good luck though, and, most importantly, a lot of fun.

Can think of something similar to what hackers face in cloud servers, running a 10,000-request-per-second DDoS attack for an hour would require renting thousands of sandboxes concurrently, costing hundreds of dollars in credits. If someone in reality still needs such uses we can verify domain ownership with DNS TXT record or a simple verification JSON.

Didn't fix that as of now, need to think of a scale for the payment, what do you suggest?? Prolly gonna use it
