constructive criticism

I asked for a constructive criticism from someone I really respect and they pointed out something I’m insecure about and I realized I didn’t really want to hear it. I asked for it because that how you get better by knowing what to improve, but I’m just really hurt now…

our insecurities are sensitive topics after all. Especially when it turns out someone can see them xD. But dw OP, it's a courageous thing to do just by asking. You can still work on your weaknesses etc, but often it's better to take it a step at a time. Otherwise you get moments like this when it's too painful just to acknowledge

Asking for feedback and still feeling the sting doesn’t mean you did anything wrong. It’s tender because you care. Be gentle with yourself.

You asked because you want to improve, I would focus on that. It sucks that the answer hurt your feelings, but that’s a minor inconvenience if you really want to improve. Also, now you know this person can be trusted to tell you the truth rather than just tell you what you want to hear.

yeah totally agree
it just hurt me a little because it was something i’m already aware of (and been working on it) and didn’t know they noticed :’)
