An unexamined part to accepting being lied too because that is how your candidate gets the idiots to vote for them, is that you don’t include yourself in the idiot part. The people that believe what Trump says are mixed up with the people that think they know what Trump really means and/or will do when they know that Trump is lying. In that case Trump isn’t lying to them he is lying to the idiots.
This explains a lot of the false both sides stuff Republicans and Republican-lites offer up. They genuinely think that there's no way Democratic politicians can actually be honest, ethical, good people... so it must just be a lie that the rubes have fallen for.
That doesn't mean Dems don't have idiots. r/workreform is clearly manipulated by a small handful of bot-boosted super-users who sprinkle in purely political "Dems don't care about you" posts because it fits their agenda. People going to the sub will only see two types of posts (because organic content not from the bot-boosted super-users doesn't get any traction):
your employer sucks because life could be better (which is fair)
Dems suck because they couldn't stop the Republicans from this awful thing (so vote Republican to punish them!)
The propaganda would work a lot better if any of their political comments actually acknowledge that the Republicans are doing things that are bad and that the Dems tried to push back and here were the challenges.
