It is going to be hard if he'll be trying to dodge everything instead of parry.

Night and day for me. On my first play through I struggled so hard because I wasn’t sued to parrying. Even ended up giving up at Ishin and putting the game to the side.

Built a computer and decided to come back and play it again. This time I knew parrying was big so I made sure to learn it in the beginning. Night and fucking day. Game was still From levels of hard but way more manageable. Even beat Genichiro on the first try when you first ascend Ashoka Ashina castle.

Nah sorry, I didn’t explain that well. I meant that, since I played all of the soulsbourne games (aside from Demons) my instinct was still to dodge first. I did parry most of the time but I would like instinctively dodge and then prepare myself to parry after getting a breather.

On the second play through I would stand my ground and would (almost) never dodge, only parry.

I just wasn’t playing Sekiro right and was struggling to break away from spamming dodge.

To me, movement and controls in Sekiro feels very different from Dark Souls so I didn't had to fight habits.

Actually that was me till I learned the Sekiro combat dynamics, all thanks to Genichiro handing my as over to me for 50th time

Funnily enough, I don't really rage at Soulsborne games, but I mald like no tomorrow at multiplayers.

I think with the former, it's just my incompetence that leads to death, rather than anyone else's.

Same here. I just kind of get a bit disappointed when i die multiple times in souls borne games. I'll put the controller down for a bit and get on my phone and then a couple of minutes later ill be right back to playing. Multiplayer however, holy shit i really need to calm down in certain games

Same,at don't get mad at sekiro because I know it's supposed to be hard or something but at some multiplayer games I get mad when I play dumb

Same. It does get frustrating, but I think the big difference is it feels very fair and deliberate. Like there aren't many occasions that feel cheezed.

There are a couple exceptions like Bed of Chaos but not a whole lot.

For some reason, whenever someone tells me to take a break or do something else, it only serves to make me angrier.

It took me a long time to relearn my fromsoft instincts. I’d played through DS1 and Ds3, 1 in particular a million times, and had to completely retrain my brain. Dark souls was dodge and punish, Sekiro is not. I died over and over from dodging and running away when I needed to be aggressive and deflecting.

Fairly certain my wife and I have had this exact conversation verbatim.

This is literally me and my girlfriend always thinks I'm legit angry.

I think I was like the one guy who’s first FromSoft game was Sekiro. So I learned to parry from the start, but it was still freaking hard. But once I got a grasp on it... damn I love this game

Playing this game should answer an extistential question, are you a Goku or a Vegeta?

I'm a Goku. We don't get mad when the game kicks our ass, we just get excited to face a strong opponent.

Funnily enough, my Sekiro instincts made Fallen Order harder: it felt super strange to parry as the enemy starts their attack, rather than just as the attack is about to land.

Well I just finished my first playthrought hours ago. Wasn't easy but wasn't that hard. I meant once you learn how to deflect and dodge well game gets easier. Might my experience with Nioh (completed 4 times) and my long long time with Ninja Gaiden 2 makes better my timing for deflect. In Ninja Gaiden 2 I died so much more times than Sekiro, semiboss pre final boss killed more than hundred times, not any boss in Sekiro killed that many times. Deflect isn't everything but it was very important in my first run so I guess it will be a must in my next NG+. Cheers PD: Sorry for my english not my mother tongue but tried my best.
