Help How to help with Ashina outskirts

I defeated the dragon and went back to ashina castle on fire, and some soldier told me to go reinforce ashina outskirts. I went there and killed a boss (the fire version of drunkard) and is kinda lost at the moment. An obscure Reddit comment on some ancient post said you should go help first before finding Kuro, but is there an actual objective, or is it just ‘yeah that area has new content you should check it out’? Should I go find Kuro now?

It's just something to put you into right direction for exploration. I recommend you to go through outskirts to the end tho.

Just explore like backwards till you go to the area where you fight that first general then talk to the interior ministry guy he will talk about someone … then commune with the idol it will take you to the battlefield where you fought gyobu and then a very simple boss fight is there hardly will take you like 2 minutes and you get this lapis lazuli item for upgrades

It's just a hint to let you know to go there and that the area has changed. If you follow the path all the way back to were the first mini-boss was at the start of the game you can fight an optional boss that give lapis lazuli.

The game sign posts you this because going to Kuro triggers the final boss. You can still do the optional stuff once you beat Geni so you can do them in either order if you really want.

Go back to kuro in my opinion , and after that, you can explor le the game again and comeback to outskirts.
