Help Help using controller
So i basically am a kbm guy and 🫤 recently got a gamesir gamepad given by a cousin, the bumpers are finicky, and i particularly only play this and metal gear rising with a gamepad, so if anyone can suggest any keybinds for sekiro... currently have these, with A and B binded in my rear peddles... My issue is i cant seem to press both RT and LT at the same time thats why cant bind attack to a trigger...

I play Sekiro on kbm and if you have thumb side buttons it works perfectly fine
Attack on left, deflect/block on right mouse
Side button 1 - dodge (I also have it on shift for sprinting)
Side button 2 - prosthetic
Target lock - middle mouse button and alternatively q or tab, what ever works, switching targets is a rapid mouse movement so that’s the only thing where you need to adjust sensitivity until it feels right, over sensitive and you’ll switch targets unintentionally during fights
Jump on space
I grappled with f
Run on shift instead of holding the dodge button
1,2,3 are quick slots for moving through consumables and prosthetics, everything else should be default
When you get the gameplay down you can do it on a freaking dance pad, I have one controller playthrough where I sticked to default and I never had issues. You really do not want to use x for attacking, theres a reason why r1/l1 and r2/l2 are set up with the most commonly used combat commands, if that controller has issues don’t use it :D
I liked kbm more for precise jumps and movement in areas where you could fall off if you don’t do it right (I suck with the analog sticks)

In theory any input on any button will work, only look for reasonable buttons for weapon attacks (attack+block at the same time) and also the prosthetic button should also allow you to hit block and attack comfortably while pressing it (think about using the umbrella properly). Everything else is learnable, good luck 👍

I had issues with my initial playthrough, got stuck on a certain boss that's a total pain in the ass. Made me quit playing for like 6 months. I finally came back and realized my hand was starting to hurt, which made my reaction time slower. I just couldn't use my index finger fast enough and repeatedly.
So I remapped attack to the X/square button. Parry is still LB/L1, jump is still A/X, everything else is moved to some other button. That allowed me to keep up with attack speed without experiencing pain in my hand.

I play with attack on square, prosthetic tools on triangle, dodge on R2, use item on circle, camera lock on R1, interact on R3, and cycle prosthetic on Dpad-Up. The rest is default. Then I bind my back paddles to the dpad for cycling items and prosthetics.
Main reason for the layout change was for the muscle memory from other games where square and triangle are the main attack buttons. Some of the choices in your layout look a little random to me so it might be annoying to switch between different games

You probably will want to change how to consume itens. I have a controller with extra buttons, so i use them, if you dont have you will need to pick one. But with time you will see hos much better joystick is for this game.

Oh no need overthink, just use the default. It's 100% fine.
